Imagine a world where we all are valued and defined by our individual talents, strengths and passions, not by our shortcomings or lack of achievements. How much closer would we be to achieving our goals if we changed our thinking to mobilise supportive vision, relationships and communities? Asset Based Thinking offers a fresh vision for our work with clients. Rather than focusing just on specific issues such as homelessness, which society labels as problems through a deficit based lens, Asset Based Thinking is aspirational – it explores the possibilities in each individual to guide and inspire them to create opportunities and achieve their goals. Join our special guest speaker Colin Falconer, who was Director of Innovation for 15 years at The Foyer Federation, a successful multiservice program for youth operating in Great Britain, USA and Australia. Colin will share his experiences in the sector and the key factors for successful client outcomes. The session will cover the following: a background to different asset-based approaches; introduce a new framework to help reflect on asset-based practice and influence work in different contexts; allow participants to explore strengths; challenges and opportunities using the framework; and encourage further conversation and development. Colin Falconer is founder of Inspirechilli which provides training and innovation service focused on the concept of ‘inspiration for good’. Current Inspirechilli projects include expert advice on asset-based approaches for funders such as the Paul Hamlyn Foundation; an exclusive licence to run the Foyer Federation’s new accreditation scheme; and various development roles to shape services for young people in the UK and overseas. Imagine a world where we all are valued and defined by our individual

talents, strengths and passions, not by our shortcomings or lack of

achievements. How much closer would we be to achieving our goals if

we changed our thinking to mobilise supportive vision, relationships and

communities?

Asset Based Thinking offers a fresh vision for our work with clients. Rather

than focusing just on specific issues such as homelessness, which society labels as problems through a

deficit based lens, Asset Based Thinking is aspirational – it explores the possibilities in each individual to

guide and inspire them to create opportunities and achieve their goals.

Join our special guest speaker Colin Falconer, who was Director of Innovation for 15 years at The Foyer

Federation, a successful multiservice program for youth operating in Great Britain, USA and Australia. Colin

will share his experiences in the sector and the key factors for successful client outcomes.

The session will cover the following:

• a background to different asset-based approaches;

• introduce a new framework to help reflect on asset-based practice and influence work in different

contexts;

• allow participants to explore strengths;

• challenges and opportunities using the framework;

• and encourage further conversation and development.

Colin Falconer is founder of Inspirechilli which provides training and innovation service focused on the

concept of ‘inspiration for good’. Current Inspirechilli projects include expert advice on asset-based

approaches for funders such as the Paul Hamlyn Foundation; an exclusive licence to run the Foyer

Federation’s new accreditation scheme; and various development roles to shape services for young people

in the UK and overseas. Colin is a qualified teacher, TEDx speaker, and Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
