Power of Attorney - James Whitlock to Francis Home 1681/82. James Whitlock of WareParish in Glocester County ..... appoints Frances Home of Sittingburne Parish inRappahannock County his true and lawful attorney. Signed: Jas: Whitlock. Page 160.

From Hanover County Chancery Wills and Notes compiled by William Ronald Cocke III.Wills of David Whitlock dated 28 March 1798 and proved September 1798 and ofMartha Whitlock dated 5th November 1825 along with accompanying documents. Note:Sherry, I'll mail you a copy of these pages. It's too much to type in, but their childrenwere Turner Richardson Whitlock, Charles Whitlock, David Parish Whitlock, RebekahDoran Whitlock & Lucy Whitlock. Turner Richardson served in St. Paul's Parish withMatthew Whitlock.

In Cumberland County records, I found William Edwards and Grisel Coleman, daughter ofBurrill Coleman, married March 27, 1750. Surety Bond - William Edwards, James Aday.On another page of the same book, I found William Edwards and Grissell Coleman, daughter of Daniel Coleman, married March 27, 1750. I don't really believe that therewere two William Edwards and Gris(s)el(1) Colemans who married in the same county onthe same day. Do you know which is correct?

In addition to the above, I searched through two copies of a Petsworth Parish Book forGloucester Co. but didn't find anything that pertained to our folks.

I looked through all Goochland records and history books, St. Paul's Parish book forHanover County, Record books for Hanover County and King William County (KingWilliam County information did not include Parish books), and Essex County Recordbooks. I looked for wills for Ann and John Clarke in each book, but I didn't findanything. I also looked for DAR pension application information but I didn't find ourfolks. Then I finished the day by looking in William and Mary, Virginia GeneaologyMagazine, and Tyler's for miscellaneous folks until time to leave to catch my bus.

James Whitlock, born 3 July 1762, who filed for a pension in Union Co. SC on 11 October1832, filed again in DeKalb County, GA 10 July 1843 when he was 85 years old. I don'tthink he ever got it. I assume he died in DeKalb Co.
