Sturdy also servedastheinterimathleticdirectorduringthe2007springseason.Inaddition,hewastheheadsoft-ball coach for theLadyTrojans for six years. Priortobeingtheathleticdirectorandsoftballcoach,SturdywastheAssistantAthleticDirectorandAssistantSoftballCoachfornine-plusseasonsundercoachCarlAdams.SturdyalsoservedastheRecreationDirectorfortheCityofColby. Since becoming the full-time athleticdirectorin2008,Sturdyhassupervisedthehir-ing of volleyball coach, Carey Jones;men’sand women’s track and field coach, Cam-eron Rieth; men’s basketball coach, RustyGrafel;wrestling coach,DavidNordhues andwomen’s basketball coachAntowinEdwards. Athletic Trainer Kipp Nelson KippNelsonhasbeentheheadathletictraineratColbyCommunityCollegesince1998.Nelsonisresponsibleforallnineathleticprograms,providingserviceforpracticesandhomecompetitions.Inadditiontohisathletictrainingduties,Nelsonoverseesthecampusswimmingpoolwhichincludesthetrainingofcertifiedlifeguardsandsupervisingwork-studystudents. Nelsonreceivedhisbachelor’sdegreein1994fromCoeCollegeinCedarRapids,Iowa,whereheearnedtheWallaceOutstandingAthleticTrainerAward.Aftergraduation,NelsonbecametheHeadAthleticTrainerfortheDouglasUnifiedSchoolDistrictinDouglas,Ariz.Duringhistwoyearsthere,hestartedasportsmedicineprogramthatoversaw12sports,aswellassportsmedicineclasses. Nelsonreceivedhismaster’sdegreefromEasternNewMexicoUniversityin1999,whereheservedasthegraduateassistantathletictrainer.Heworkedwithvolleyball,basketball,andbaseballwhileattendingENMU. VOLLEYBALL COACHING STAFFHead Coach Carey Jones CareyJonesisenteringher7thseasonasHeadCoachfortheLadyTrojans.Shecomesintotheseasonwitha135-101overallrecordand54-30intheJayhawkConference. In2014JonesledtheLadyTrojanstoasecondplacefinishwithan11-5recordinthecompetitiveJayhawkConference. BeforemovingtoColby,JoneswastheheadvolleyballcoachatAndaleHighSchoolfromApril2008-January2009.Sheledthe4Ateamtomanysuccesses,includingthefirstwinningrecordin13years.Thejuniorvarsityteamhadanundefeatedseasonandthevarsityteamfinished28-8.SixAndaleplayerswerenominatedtotheall-conferencefirstandsecondteams. Aftergraduatingfromcollegein2006,JoneswasnamedtheassistantvolleyballcoachatGardenCityCommunityCollege.SheactivelyrecruitedKansasandout-of-stateplayers.Inadditiontocoachingduties,shewasre-sponsibleforhelpingwithpracticeplansforpre-andpost-seasonandhelpeddirectweighttrainingandsummerworkouts.Sheco-directedsummercampwithover200participantsandwastheco-directoroftheBlockOutVolley-ballClubvolleyballprogram.Shealsomanagedthewebsitefortheathleticdepartmentwhileworkingwithothercoachesandprogramsonstaff. JonesattendedjuniorcollegeatCotteyCollegeinNevada,Mo.,whereshewas a two-sport athlete playingboth basketball andvolleyball. Hersophomoreseasonshewasateamcaptainandherteamfinishedsecondintheconference.AtCottey,JonesbeganhercoachingcareerasaheadclubcoachforaNevadajuniorsteam. AftergraduatingwithherassociatedegreefromCottey,Jonestransferredto theUniversityofSaintMary inLeavenworth,Kan.,where sheplayedvolleyballandstudiedsportsmanagementandmarketing.JonescontinuedcoachingclubduringthistimefordifferentprogramsintheKansasCityarea. Assistant Coach Madison Kafoa MaddieKafoagrewupinIdaho,whereshecontributedtothemostsuccessfulvolleyballprograminherschool’shistory,winningtwoconferencechampionshipsandcompetingforthestatetitle.SheplayedonscholarshipforNorthwestCollegeinWyoming,andthenUnionCollegeinKentucky.Shewasprivilegedtobeateamcaptainforbothteams.WhileparticipatingatNorthwest,shewasnamedaWyomingCommunityCollegeAthleticConference(WCCAC)RegionIXAll-TournamentPlayerandanAll-ConferencePlayer,andnamedtotheWCCACAll-AcademicandAll-AmericanAcademicteams.AtUnionCollege,MaddiewaspresentedtheAppalachianAthleticConference(AAC)andNAIANationalChampionofCharacterawards.ShehadtheexperienceofbringingherteamtotheNationalTournamentbothyearssheparticipatedinUnion’sprogram.MaddieearnedherAssociatedegreeatNorthwest,andwentontoearnabachelor’sdegreeinCriminalJusticeatUnionwhileworkingonaminorinHealthandWellness.ShewasacoachattheEPANVolleyballclubinWestVirginialastseason,coachingsixgirlsonthe18andunderteamthatwentontoplaycollegiateball.

Coach Kevin JolleyKevinJolleyentershisthirdseasonasanassistantcoachwiththeColbyCommunityCollegeMen’sBasketballProgram.KevincomestoColbyafterspendingsevenyearsofplayingProfessionalBasketballinEu-rope,theMiddleEastandAfrica.JolleystartedhisbasketballcareeratFairmontHeightsHighSchoolwherehewasnamed2ndteamAll-MetroandNominatedfortheMcDonaldsAll-Americangameafteraveraging25pointspergame,13rebounds.8assistsandleadingthestateofMarylandintripledoubles.Afterhighschool,JolleyattendedHutchinsonCommunityCollegewhereheplayedwithHeadCoachRustyGrafelhelpingtheteamwintheJayhawkWestChampionshipin2004andfinishedranked13thinthecountry.From2004-06JolleyattendedQuinnipiacUniversity.Asajuniorheaveraged9.8pointspergame,shooting56percentfromthefieldandwassecondintheconferenceinrebounding(8.9).AsaseniorJolleyaveraged

7.8pointspergameand6.5rebounds.AftercollegeJolleyplayedin14differentcountries,includingGer-many,Portugal,Lebanon,Syria,Jordan,Palestine,Mexico,Luxembourg,Iceland,Egypt,Israel,SaudiArabia,TheNetherlands,andDubai.Oversevenyearshehadacareeraverageof26pointsand12reboundspergame.“IamveryexcitedtohaveCoachJolleyonstaff,”saidCoachRustyGrafel.“IhaveknownKevinsinceweplayedcommunitycollegebasketjuniorcollegebasketballtogetherandhisexperienceandknowledgetransfersovertoourcoachingstaff.”

Assistant Men’s Basketball Coaches

Carson Konrade is in his first year as an assistant coach with the Trojans. In addition to helping with the men’s basketball team, Carson is a student in the PTA program at CCC. Carson played for the Trojans from 2010-2012 when Coach Grafel was the assistant coach at Colby, earning All-KJCCC West Division Honor-able Mention distinction as a sophomore in 2011-12. In his sophomore season, he led the team in scoring at 14.3 points per game, while pulling down 6.1 rebounds, shooting 44.2 percent from the field and 38.8 percent beyond the 3-point line. Draining a team high 78.3 point field goals and he reached the foul line 115 times, where he shot 74.8%. Carson was also an Academic All-American here at Colby!

After graduating from CCC as an Academic All-American, Carson finished his career at Fort Hays State University. His senior year he averaged 12.7 points and 3.8 rebounds per game, on his way to becoming a first team all-conference selection in the MIAA.

Coach Grafel said of him: “Carson is one of the hardest workers I have seen since I started coaching career. He knows how to play the game better than anyone I have come across and can now help our guys understand that. 2015-16 Women’s Basketball CoachesHead Coach Antoin EdwardsCoachAntowinEdwardsentershisthirdseasonatthehelmofLadyTrojansbasketball.Lastyearheguidedtheprogramtothemostwinsinsevenyears.In2014-15,theLadyTrojansfinishedat12-19,a10-gameimprovementfromthepreviousseason.Thebiggestaccomplishmentwaswatchingsixoutofhiseightsopho-moresgraduate.TheLadyTrojanswerealsoanNJCAAAll-Aca-demicTeamwitha3.19teamgradepointaverage,thesecondtimeinasmanyyearshisteamswererecognizedacademically.The2013-2014hadateamGPAof3.24.Inhiscoachingcareer,CoachEdwardshashelped21sophomoresmoveontofour-yearinstitu-tionsandcontinuetheirplayingcareers.CoachEdwardsbeganhiscoachingcareerin1999atParkUniversityundercurrentathleticsdirectorClaudeEnglishandremainedonstaffwhenJasonKlinetookoverthePiratemen’sbasketballprogramin2004.Edwardscoached10seasonsasanassistant,pullingdouble-dutyforsevenofthoseyearsbycoach-ingatParkHillHighSchool.AtParkHillhehadanopportunityto

coachthelowerlevelsandgainvaluableleadershipandinstructionalexperience.CoachEdwardsholdsamaster’sdegreeineducationandbachelor’sdegreesinhumanservicesandcrimi-naljustice,allfromParkUniversity.HeismarriedtoJamilaEdwards.Theyhaveonebeautifuldaughter,Brianna,andonehandsomeson,“A.J.(AntowinJr.).

McCarty Family Farms milks approximately 7,200 cows each day. Approximately 59,400 gallons of milk is gathered. The dairies reclaim 39,000 gallons/day of water from condensing milk. They have reduced the number of trucks required to ship milk by 75%. The number of man-hours required to

build the processing plant was 50,000. McCarty Family Farms currently employs 105 people.
