Only a few braved the day. First we met at Camperdown and climbed the clock tower to get a view of Mt Elephant. We met Colin Dennis who was having overheating problems with the coil on his car and listened to Phil Bernoth play in the band as we had morning tea under the oak trees. Then three cars a Healey (Graeme Chislett), Nissan 300ZX (Vince Thone) and a Holden Monaro (Colin Box) headed to the mount. Just as well there were no speed cameras as the boys were trying to impress each other. We made it to the base of the mount and then headed for a walk, some took the 4 wheel drive option part way up. The last section was walking only and at times we didn't think we would all make it, we did. Kathie chose to wait for us as her knee was troublesome. The views were spectacular, looking across to the Grampians and back towards Colac. Going down was much easier and the BBQ that awaited us was very welcome. A good run for the cars and good exercise for the people. Annette Enjoying the view from the top of Mount Elephant

Cobden Miniature Railway Day It didn’t rain even though Geoff was in his Jag. The sun shone all day as we enjoyed a cuppa by the lake in Cobden and then on up to the miniature railway for lunch. The cars ranged in age and style from Glen Magilton’s 1927 Dodge, Vince Thorne’s1928 Rugby, Colin Box’s Monaro, Graeme Chislett’s Austin Healey, Geoff O’Neil’s Jag and the Chambers in their modern. The girls had a ride on the train and a look around the gardens while the boys discussed CARS and bits of CARS. Then on to Neil Fagan’s place where he builds model trucks. Oh the patience and steadiness of hand required to do all the intricate bits and pieces. He gets a photo and the model turns out exactly like the real thing. Some of the models may take up to 150 hours. Then another cuppa and home.
