Fibre Optic Transmission Range

Page 2: COE X-Net Fibre Product Brochure

X-Net® is the culmination of COE’s experience in design and delivery of fibre optic transmission equipment for the demanding video surveillance, petrochemical and transportation industries.

X-Net® Fibre Transmission System

X-Net equipment is installed at some of the most prestigious, high profile sites in the world.

X-Net NMS provides invaluable network device status, diagnostic reporting and management.

Installed in 1000s of sites worldwide

Designed for rugged, reliable performance

Above and beyond rail environmental standards

Cutting edge features (e.g. SFP optical lasers)

Industry leading redundancy proofing

Web based diagnostics and alarms

X-Net is... X-Net includes...

X-Net Network Management System (NMS)X-Net NMS provides comprehensive diagnostics for X-Net rack mounted and remote fibre connected modules.

NMS reduces maintenance time and expense by eliminating the need to travel to manually inspect remotely based X-Net fibre products. A 10/100BaseT Ethernet port allows web based diagnostics of the X-Net Rack and its various modules to be obtained simply by entering the IP address of the NMS module into a web browser. X-Net NMS also provides SNMP

extensions for use in third party alarm management systems. A VT100/Hyper Terminal serial port interface is also included for local access and configuration.

High Quality AudioCD quality duplex audio channels

for intercom, public address or passenger announcements. Two channels may also be used as a stereo ‘pair’ for piped music or

advertising.

Switchable DataHigh speed duplex data channels, user selectable between RS232, RS422 and

RS485 2 & 4 wire are included, exceeding specifications for all

modern telemetry data requirements.

SFP Optical Lasers• Increased transmission distances - SFP optics may

extend transmission range up to 150km.

• Replaceable in seconds - Hot-pluggable optics provide maximum flexibility and ease of maintenance.

• CWDM capabilities - A range of SFP optics are available to enable on-site CWDM upgrade and configuration.

• Cost effective - Spares holding requirements are decreased due to the interoperability of all SFPs between X-Net modules.

• Future proofing - SFP optics are rapidly becoming the de facto standard for Ethernet switches and fibre transmission.

Ease of InstallationIndustry standard connectors and pin outs

are used throughout the entire X-Net range for ease and speed of interconnection. No user

adjustments are required for installation.

Universal Housing Options

X-Net modules are designed to interface with a universal 19” racking system. This reduces cost, cabinet space requirement, installation

effort and spares holding. Alternatively, X-Net modules may be housed in single,

double or triple width box units.

Contact ClosureContact closure interfaces, typically

used for camera alarm/tamper switch applications are included on X-Net

modules.

High Quality VideoUp to eight channels of 10-bit, >65dB signal-to-noise ratio, uncompressed real-time video

transmission.

Alarm IndicatorsLEDs, relays and X-Net NMS provide local and remote alarm notifications,

providing comprehensive system monitoring.

Cyber Your FibreAdd Ethernet services to existing transmission points and provide

fibre transmission for a wide variety of IP equipment, such as COE I-Vue IP cameras, wireless routers, IP intercom, ANPR etc.

!

The X-Net CWDM system allows passive CWDM modules to be neatly included within an X-Net Rack

or X-Net Box housings.

In the example shown below, multiple X-Net modules are connected via fibre optic interconnects to an X-Net CWDM module, eliminating the

requirement for costly and time consuming fibre splicing.

Using this method, up to 18 separate X-Net modules (each configured to use a different laser wavelength), may be combined

to provide high density transmission of video, plus optional audio, data and Ethernet over

a single optical fibre.

Coarse Wave Division Multiplexing (CWDM) enables simultaneous transmission of up to 144 channels of video across a single optical fibre.

Through integrated SFP optical ports, every product in the X-Net range is capable of CWDM transmission, permitting high density, diverse routing and drop & insert fibre transmission topologies. This technology vastly increases potential channel

count capacity across networks with limited fibre infrastructure.

Coarse Wave Division Multiplexing

X-Net CWDM may be used to transmit video from many remote sites back to a single or multiple control areas.

The diagram below illustrates X-Net’s flexibility in providing an optimised fibre transmission solution for a wide variety of devices.

Point-to-Point Fibre Transmission

X-Net products transmit and receive video, alarms, data, audio, contact closure and

Ethernet.

Smaller than a credit card and ideal for mounting in space restricted areas (e.g.

camera housings).

X-Net CC-16 Module

The X-Net Contact Closure module is used as a companion card to permit easy expansion of alarm signalling, providing 16 contact closure inputs and 16 relay outputs. Two CC-16 modules can be connected over a serial data channel, or a single module can be installed remotely and connected back to a COE Telecommand system.

X-Net Patch Panel

The X-Net Patch Panel allows easy interconnection of multiple X-Net data channels in a daisy chain or bus configuration using pre-made RJ45 patch leads. X-Net Patch Panel provides 1 x serial port to 15 x serial port connections and may be either boxed or rack mounted in two slots of an X-Net Rack.

X-Net Star Driver

The X-Net Star Driver is used as a companion card to allow up to 8 separate telemetry devices (typically dome or PTZ cameras) to be star connected at the remote end of a transmission link, and then carried across one single data bus transmission channel back to a system controller (e.g. COE Telecommand).
