Horror Trailers
Usually start of slow and then build up You get a general overview of what is happening You notice the location, might be a long shot of it The tension will slowly rise Background music will start to get louder as the trailer goes on Diegetic sounds are used a lot Usually 1 or 2 jump scares in the trailer to grab the viewers attention A jump scare may be interrupted by the ending of the trailer to create a
cliff hanger affect Usually a dark theme Dramatic close ups of characters to show their facial expressions
How the trailer is set out
The trailer is usually very dark, especially in houses, forests etc.
Reasons for this is because the viewers do not know what to expect

These film covers are used effectively The lighting is used to outline something specific An example would be the bright light from the window of ‘The
Exorcist’ is shining down on the character entering the house This one lighting effect can give the viewers a good idea about
how the movie is going to pan out
