Dear Residents,
Shire Ranger, Razali Zainiel, has been doing monthly patrols behind backyards of kampong residential area. A few chicken
pens with chickens have been sited and the Shire Ranger would like to advise residents that they should re-locate the chickens immediately at the designated farm plots. In the event that residents do not have a plot assigned to them please fill free to come to the Shire office to apply for one.
Based on Water Corporation’s testing and sampling of our underground water supply, results have detected that our water supply has been contaminated from chicken manure especially during heavy rainfall events.
We appreciate your co-operation in this matter. Please note that further actions will be taken if you wish not to co-operate. Please feel free to call the Shire Ranger or Peter Clarke (CEO) on 08 91626649 for any concerns about this issue.
IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR HOME ISLANDS RESIDENTS
NOTIS PENTING UNTUK PENDUDUK HOME ISLAND
I was working behind the bar at the club when Kelly found me and told me where the bird was. Excitedly I ran and got Biggles before he boarded the plane and connected him with Kelly, temporarily re prioritising my bar duties! Unfortunately the bird had flown and Biggles missed out on seeing a "first for Australia".
We have been keeping an eye out for the dove since then and Geof spotted it on Monday morning at the back of the school. We both managed to get photos. Hopefully it will stay around for a bit so we can get some more. Please let us know if you see any unusual birds around the Island. It’s a bit like looking for a needle in a haystack but really it’s fun finding one—ask Kel!
Oriental Turtle Dove on Cocos (Keeling) Island
first for Australia!
Kelly Edwards (twitcher extraordinaire) from Cocos Island Community Resource Centre found this Oriental Turtle Dove at the back of her house on Saturday, just before the plane left with Biggles (a visiting birder) on board. Richard Baxter who runs bird watching tours to Cocos Island on a regular basis had left on the plane the previous day having seen nothing particularly unusual.
The Rural Health West Doctors’ Service Award for Remote and Clinically Challenging Medicine for 2014 has recently been awarded to Dr Rosemary Lee. This is in recognition of her role here, providing a high standard of health care in one of Australia’s most far flung territories.
VEHICLE LICENCING & REGISTRATIONS
Council’s record indicate that there are still numerous overdue boat licences overdue. Unfortunately Council are unable to send out boat renewal notices due to IT issues.
It is the owner's responsibility to make sure that their boat/trailer licence is up to date and that it is registered. If it is not registered please visit our office and see our Motor Vehicle Registry Officer for advice.

Thought for the Day
Cocos (Keeling) Islands News (cont’d) Berita Pulu Cocos (Keeling) (seterusnya)
A doctor worked on the tenth floor of an office building. In the building was a pub, where the doctor had a lemon daiquiri, every day at quitting time. The bartender's name was Dick.
One day Dick found out he didn't have any lemons and no time to get any. So he thought he would make up a hickory daiquiri instead and at the end of the day, the doctor would be too tired to notice.
The doctor sat down, took a sip and said "This isn't a lemon daiquiri, Dick!"...To which Dick replied, "No, it’s a hickory daiquiri, Doc!"
The sergeant-major growled at the young soldier: “I didn’t see you at camouflage training this morning.” “Thank you very much, sir!!!”
A man walks into a bar and asks for a glass of water. The bartender pulls out a shotgun and fires a shot, barely missing the man's head. The man gets up, says thank you, and leaves a tip.
Why the tip and thank you; “because the man had the hiccups.”

Side Effects of Drinking Soda
Soda is mostly popular as a soft drink among people. This is quite famous among people of various age groups. They are just addicted towards soda; they do not even give any attention about its side effects, which is quite acute.
Drinking soda contains several chemicals which forces you to feel dehydrated.
It is a combination of high sugar & fructose corn syrup, which can be responsible for your excessive weight gain.
Soda does not carry any nutritional value; it is nothing but a addition of empty calories.
E x o r b i t a n t s o d a consumption can even cause high blood sugar, which in turn increases the risk of excessive heart rate, faintness etc.
Excessive soda intakes can result in your bad dental health as well as cavities, because it contains excessive acid & sugar.
Because of its caffeine content you can easily grow the addiction.
Caffeine enhances the chances of your weak bone, because it absorbs the calcium from the bones.
You can even experience s t r e s s , i n s o m n i a , restlessness etc because of e x c e s s i v e s o d a consumption.

Sudoku Solutions Crossword Solutions
How do I do it?
The object is to insert the numbers in the boxes to satisfy only one condition: each row, column and group of squares enclosed by the bold lines must contain the digits 1 through 9 exactly once.
The rules for different size and shape puzzles are pretty much identical. The different size puzzles simply require a different set of numbers.
