¡ reflective PoSitioningStrategically placed mirrors can be luxurious, as well as practical, and can even create the illusion of a larger room. Here are a few simple tips for positioning your mirrors around your house.

If you want to be as simple as possible, mirrors for a practical pur-pose are often found in the bedroom, bathroom and entry way.

Decorative mirrors are often hung vertically. Also position them so direct open light won’t reflect into the mirrors. You don’t want to “blind” your guests with reflective light.

Distance from the floor can also play a factor in hanging your larger wall mirrors. As a rule of thumb, the top of the mirror should be a minimum of 6 feet from the ground. Also, the bottom of the mirror should be at least 1.5 feet above the floor.

You also want to account for the space in front of the mirror. Try leaving 3-5 feet in front of a mirror to allow people to step back while looking at the mirror.

¡ pantone fashion color report - fall 2011The Fall 2011 Fashion Report has been released. This fall colors will be sensible and spirited. According to Pantone, “Taking cues from the great masters, sepia tones of old Hollywood, Chinese opera, cityscapes and countryside, designers are paying close attention to texture, contrast and color for fall 2011.” The colors chosen for this season have subtle and natural qualities, while still bringing life and spirit into any piece.

on the warmer side, baMboo, eMbergloW and HoneySuckle are being used to reminisce the glow of spring, while ushering in the warmth of autumn. emberglow also compliments to the retro furni-ture trend of 2011 and Honeysuckle adds a bold, playful feel, shown in our new honeysuckle-colored office chair. This bright color pairs nicely with the earth tone shades of nougat and coffee liqueur.

The Fall 2011 color palette is not only warm, but spirited. PHlox and DeeP teal were added to this mix to make a statement. These bold colors are strong and unique. Adding these colors to your room can add excitement to your room, but not by being too overwhelming. As days are getting shorter and nights longer, these two deep colors of the night will also help you get ready for the fall.

This season also offers sensible neutrals. ceDar, quarry, nougat and coffee liqueur evoke stability, versatility and timelessness. These colors are practical, subtle and bring a homey warmth to a room. Many of our accent chairs and chaises, like the two shown here, display these natural shades of fall. These accent pieces are a great addition to any room.

Designers take a painterly approach to fall 2011 by art-fully combining bright colors with staple neutrals, remi-niscent of how an artist would construct a stunning work of art,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “Much like a painter’s master-piece, there is a certain romance to this season’s palette.

“Offering a sense of continuity from spring, dynamic Honeysuckle adds a bold punctuation point.”

“Phlox, a magical, deep purple with a hint of mystery, is an outstandingstatement when worn on its own.”

¡ claSSy connerBring a classy and sophisticated style to your bedroom with our Conner bedroom collection. This sleek bed features a high straight headboard and low profile platform style frame. It also has exposed tapered feet for support. The headboard and frame are wrapped in a dark brown faux leather, which generates a luxurious look. Com-plement this bed with a faux leather accent chair or bench. The rich deep color of the faux leather also create this classy feel.

You don’t want your bedroom to be too dark, so lighten it up with a colorful bedspread and a light-colored floor rug. Also, painting your walls with a warm off-white, such as Quartz White, will also create warmth and light.

This collection also features dark walnut finished furniture, which have a marble-like table top. Pair these furniture pieces with ornate accent pieces such a decorative table lamp and clock. Golds and dark shades of brown and muted blue will go well with this col-lection. These bedroom pieces also have brushed nickel finished hardware, dovetail drawers and metal glides, which creates a smooth open and close process.

¡ Decor to fall in love WitHAutumn is officially here. With Halloween and Thanksgiving right around the corner, the fall season is a great time to get your home all spruced up. Here are a few festive fall decorating ideas.

Wreath: These aren’t just for Christmas decorating. There are many different fall style wreaths using those famous fall colors: oranges, red, yellows and browns. Look at craft stores, such as Michael’s, for fall wreaths and other artificial fall decor.

Pumpkin Candle Holder: Carve a small hole (about an inch deep) into a small pumpkin, and place a beige or brown candle inside. Bring the smells of fall (pumpkin spice, cin-namon, maple, etc) into the room while also adding accent decor.

Pumpkin Vase: Pumpkins can also be used as vases. Carve a larger hole at the top and place real or artificial flowers inside. Some good fall flowers are sunflowers, mums, orange gerber daisies and callalilies.

fall Wall art: Another great way to get your home ready for fall is by changing/adding some of your wall art. Choose fall-colored paintings or photographs to emanate the feelings of fall.

Branches: For a no-cost decoration, pick some branches and twigs from your back-yard and place on a fireplace mantel, book-shelf or in a vase. Acorns and berries can also be added to these arrangements.
