things handy and convenient. No need to get out of bed to

retrieve items anymore! Here’s a list of the top five most com-

mon items to keep in your night stand.

Toiletries and beauty treatments1. : If you have a pre-bed

beauty ritual, it might be helpful to keep a small area

in your night stand designated for these items (such as

facial clothes, tissues, lotions or night creams).

Medical/health related items:2. Night stands are the

perfect place to keep nighttime and morning medicines.

many people also keep their eye glasses here for easy

access when you get up.

Bedtime hobbies:3. many people like to unwind and relax

before going to bed. Whether you read a book, do cross-

word puzzles, journal, knit or play hand-held games,

keep them within arm’s reach in a night stand drawer.

Habit items: 4. Whether it’s the television remote, an eye

mask or a glass of water; keep your nightly ritual items

close to you so you don’t have to get up while you’re try-

ing to relax.

Flashlight:5. In case of an emergency, power outage, bur-

glary or fire it’s good practice to keep a flashlight nearby,

so what better place than your night stand.

SoFaS VS CouCheS

When you are shopping for living room furniture, the

most important piece is your sofa or couch. Although

the terms “sofa” and “couch” are often used inter-

changeably and refer to the same piece in your living

room, there are subtle differences between the two.

Learn about the modern differences and a few history

facts.

Fun Facts:

The word “sofa” can be traced back to the

Arabic word “suffah,” which translates into

“bench.” The word “couch” comes from the

Latin verb “collocare,” which means “to lie

down.”

When the term “sofa” was used in england

in the 1600s, it referred to a part of the floor

that was raised and covered in cushions for

comfortable seating. In the 1700s, it referred

to a long seat with a full back and raised arm-

rests on both sides.

couches were very popular among the

roman culture and appeared in dining rooms

rather than living rooms. Three couches were

placed around a table so men could relax

on the couches as they ate and socialized.

Women, on the other hand, had to sit on

regular chairs.
