Ellis Teaching and Technology Expectations

Take Risks Be Brave Innovate

Building Expectation: ◦Students do not have to be on the laptops everyday; however teachers should develop lessons that incorporate the use of laptops at least once a week

Page 23: Coaching in Year One of 1:1 A Teacher Led Initiative for Technology Integration at Ellis Middle School Jen Gosha, Instructional Coach jennifer.gosha@austin.k12.mn.usjennifer.gosha@austin.k12.mn.us

Learning should be… Authentic: originating in and empowering the real-life

experiences of our students, families, and communities Inquiry-Driven: nurturing challenging investigations

fueled by curiosity, creativity and exploration Participatory: guiding learners in taking an active role

in what, where, why, and how they learn Shared: communicating and collaborating within and

beyond the school community Reflective: reviewing experiences in order to enhance

learning and inform future decisions and actions.

Ellis Sessions Claymation for Learning

Presenter: Mr. Wagner Synopsis: Mr. Wagner uses clay as part of his art course, but this

year he has taken it a little bit further. Using the technology available and a free software tool called "MonkeyJam," Wagner had his students use clay and other art mediums to create a story that was then filmed in stop-action. This tool could be used for other stop-motion projects and assessments in multiple subject areas.
