Coach of the Year

DePauw’s Huffman Named Schelde North America/WDIII News Coach of the Year

2013 Conference Coaches of the YearDePauw University head coach Kris Huffman has been

named the 2013 Schelde North America/Women’s DIII News Coach of the Year. She also captured the publication’s top coaching honor in 2002 and 2007 and joins Washington’s Nancy Fahey as the only three-time winners.

Huffman led her Tigers to a perfect 34-0 overall record and the 2013 Division III national championship.

“Completing a perfect season is a tremendous accomplish-ment. Kris is most deserving of this honor,” said WDIIIN editor and publisher Gary Rubin. “As a three-time winner, she adds to the long list of distinguished winners dating back to 1994. Along with Schelde North America, we are pleased to recognize her again for her achievement and hard work.”

“Coaching college basketball today means sacrifices and countless hours devoted to a team, and winning a national championship with a perfect record takes an outstanding effort from the first day of practice to the final buzzer in March,” said Jim Peterson, president of Schelde North America, a leading basketball goal and equipment manufacturer. “Schelde North America is honored to partner with Women’s DIII News to recognize Kris Huffman and all the Division III coaches.”

Women’s DIII News has named a Coach of the Year every season since 1993-94.
