Senior Final Preview - contd. disrespect to Toomevara, who produced somt fine displays over the past three years. Earlier this year [ uavelled to
Boherlahan, lhere WCfe flags, bunting and the Slue and Gold of lhe dub displayed proudly. The spirit of rhe parish was very much in evidence. The spirit of Tubber dora survived.
In their semi-final win over loomevara they displayed resilience and maturity. When Toome came hack at them, they didn't lose lheir nerve. Like Nenagh, they have built on under-age success. The average age of the players is l.V.'cnty-rhree. Theirs is an even team, relying on everyone doing his job welL rather than Olle or twO "stars". All their forwards are capable of scoring. with good support from midfield.
Tmincr, Acnglls Ryan, a native of Cashel, has improved BoherlahanDualla's performance. Again, like Pat Joe Whelehan, Aengus is a confidencebuilder. He has his charges superbly fit. They finished very strongly against Toome, full of running and fire Goalkeeper Philly Ryan is an experienced player, representing Tipp at under-age and senior level. He made a vital save from Ken Dunne in the semifinal. Liam Maher, another former Tipperary player, is showi ng skill and craft at full-forward. H is goal in the semi-final had the hallmark of genius.
The O'Dwyers, Tommy and T.J. ; the Murphys, Michael and Seamus, and Pio Delaney have considel"3ble experience also. Younger "kids on the block" -Michael Ferncombc, David Ryan, Ger Flanagan and Philip O'Dwyer - have
10($ of talent. Aidan Flanagan is a huge loss, nOi
only because of his free-raking but his overall contribution. Philip O'Dwyer, who made such a valuable contribution in Tipp's victory over Kilkenny in the Under-21 final. is delivering the promise he showed earlier. Conor Gleeson, at centre-back, scored a great point in the closing minutes against Toomevara. A 101 will depend on him today.
The outcome of this game is not as cut-and-dried as many think. All the pressure is on ~ire 6 g, they have been there before and arc expe<:ted to win. There arc no certainties in sport, JUSt reflect on this year's Inter-County Championship! I wish all four teams playing here today "Good Hurling~. To the referees, Martin Aherne and T. J. Corby, "good luck" also. We gratefully re<:ognise our sponsors - Nenagh Coop., John Quirke (Man of the MatchSenior) and A.C.C. (Man of the Match - Minor).
On Semi-final day, some of our patrons, senior citizens, holders of passes, guestS and Ihe members of the Press had considerable delay in gaining entry. We apologise for the delay and inconvenience. Today, I hope that you have a delay-free, enjoyable occasion. Fi nally, beSt of luck to Pio Delaney, who has an even more im portant date wmorrow - his wedding!
Let's hope that Semple Smdium rings with all that is best in the "Clash of the Ash" Ihis afternoon.

JOHNNY ENRIGHT (Captain - Thurles Sarsfields'
As captain of the team Johnny Enright has amassed some mighty scoring tallies during this year's minor championship. In fact at senior and U-21 level he has managed to do the same, and he is one of the mOSt outstanding and prolific scorers that Thurles Sarsfield have produced in years. I-laving graduated from the Durlas 6 g juvenile club ranks Enright made his debut with Sarsfields in 1992 as a minor. He was still U-16 at the time and played in the minor final of 1992 when Nenagh beat the Thurles tcam.
Today, Enright, a very down to earth player, will have the chance to lead Sarsfields to a COUllty minor tide, me first since 1985 and it is ironic that many of the team members back in 1985 are now playing with Johnny on the senior team
