Principles of co-construction

Working with students to design and build their own learning.

Students are given information about the end goals and have to design a programme of learning that gets them there.

Students teach each other - designing a lesson/lesson segment which will reach a specific objective.

•Extreme PovertyYou are the father of a family of 3. You don’t have a job as you have no qualifications. You feel sorry for your children. They are hungry , sad and bored. You have a mere £10 note. You could either go and buy food and a £1 toy, or, go to the casino, risk losing everything, however, you might win 5 times as much. What do you do?

Moral crisis You’re in the Bank. You’ve got the money. You’re about to leave. A police officer is standing in the doorway, blocking your only exit. You can either shoot him and run or let yourself be captured

Well done!!!

During this presentation you have mastered the skill of empathy. You’ve seen the same event from different perspectives. You put yourself in the robbers shoes, and have made all of the important decisions that have had a huge impact on the outcome. You now see the power of perspective. When you are writing about your view on an event, or a passage of writing, remember to view it from another persons point of view. See how it impacts them. Furthermore, when you are making decisions in everyday life. Look at what the impacts will be on yourself, and others. Remember, that empathy is the key to perspective, which is the key to success; not only in your writing, but your life.
