HALLOWEEN SAFETY
Everyone loves a good
scare on Halloween, but not
when it comes to the safety
of those little trick-or-
treaters. Fortunately, there
are lots of easy things
parents and kids can do to
stay safe on the spookiest
of holidays.
Carry glow sticks or flashlights, use reflective tape or
stickers on costumes and bags, and wear light colors to
help kids see and be seen by drivers.
Join kids under age 12 for trick-or-treating.
Slow down and be alert! Kids are excited on Halloween
and may dart into the street. Turn on headlights early in
the day to spot kids from further away.
Remind kids to cross the street at corners or crosswalks.
When selecting a costume, make sure it is the right size to
prevent trips and falls. Choose face paint over masks
when possible. Masks can limit children’s vision.

Calling All Unit Commanders/RDC's, Family Readiness Liaisons (FRL's) and
SFRG Volunteers!
New York National Guard Family Programs will be conducting their second round of
Mandatory SFRG Training, Saturday, 16 October 2021 through their virtual platform. Please
RSVP with your assigned Military & Family Readiness Specialist prior to COB 15 October 2021
to be provided with the meeting link for the live virtual training.
The National Guard Bureau has established a mandatory set of minimum document standards
in accordance with Army Regulation 600-20, Chapter 5 for Commanders/RDC's and FRL's
and Army Regulation 608-1, Chapter 5 for SFRG Volunteers in order to satisfy the National
Readiness Criteria. In addition, in order to meet minimum documentation standards,
Commanders/RDC's, FRL's and Lead Volunteers need to obtain their mandatory initial
training certificate. Completion of this SFRG training will allow trainees to meet these
standards as they will be provided with their initial training certificate upon completion of
this training.
If you should have any questions regarding the mandatory training standards, please contact
your respective Military & Family Readiness Specialist.
