2 CN Yang Scholars Programme
The CN Yang Scholars Programme is a premier undergraduate programme at
Nanyang Technological University for science and engineering students. The programme is named in honour of Professor CN Yang, Nobel Laureate in Physics (1957) and one of the greatest scientists of our era.
The programme is designed for exceptional students with a deep passion for science, to prepare them well for the high-technology world of the 21st century.
It shares the same philosophy as the Caltech Core Curriculum and the MIT General Institute Requirements in providing a strong and broad foundation in the basics of science and mathematics so as to empower the student to delve deeper into any discipline in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and to develop an interest in forefront research.
INFINITE POSSIBILITIESFor top students with a deep passion in Science and Technology

The CN Yang Scholars Programme is really an exciting journey of
exploration in the Sciences and the best part is you get to embark on
the same adventure with people just as passionate as you are. Through
this learning journey, I have gained valuable insights into the spirit of
research and have become more determined than ever to explore the
infinite possibilities in the field of Science.

Seeking to gain a deeper understanding of the physical laws governing
the universe has always been my goal. The CN Yang Scholars
Programme, being research-centric in nature, naturally appeals to
me. Being part of this programme has exposed me to the different
fascinating areas in science and cemented my passion for research.

The CN Yang Scholars Programme is definitely one of my serendipities
in life: it has offered me more than what I had anticipated. Under the
programme, I am not only exposed to ample research opportunities,
but also trained to solve problems with an interdisciplinary approach,
which is vital in modern society.

The programme has given me the opportunity of not only being able to build up a
strong foundation for my course in aerospace engineering, but the programme has
also given me the opportunity to conduct research, where I am a member of a team
of CN Yang scholars who would be designing, prototyping and testing an unmanned
aerial vehicle to compete in an international competition in China.

CN Yang Scholars Programme is my gateway to a whole new perspective of learning.
Being exposed to a much broader discipline, I felt that I am much prepared to face
the future challenges. The programme revolutionizes my definition of learning, getting
involved in research programme, curriculum structure that is specially tailored- it gave
me an opportunity do something for the future generations.

We, Yangstars, get so much from the privileges and chances its programme could
offer. I am allowed to conduct my research early in my first year, not only based
on my major, but from combined sciences. Being a CN Yang Scholar, infinite
possibilities await.

It was a choice between being an ordinary student with an ordinary life, or being an
ordinary student but with an extraordinary life in university. In the end I chose the latter as
it was a golden opportunity to learn and experience things which I will otherwise not be
able to if I hadn’t chosen to participate in the CN Yang Scholars Programme. Through this
programme I have had the opportunity to rub shoulders with some of the most influential
people in academia, including Noble Laureates such as Professor CN Yang himself.

”““CN Yang Scholars Programme has broadened my perspective.”
It allows me to appreciate science as a form of life. To understand the compositions
that form life, the laws of nature that govern life, and to appreciate nature as the best
prototype for every application in life. This program has also given me the privilege to
have a taste of research in year 1, the opportunity to interact with renowned researchers
who are inspiring and have given me words of wisdom.
