CCC and the Globe
LHC operators will be at the CERN Control Centre in Prevessin
Several hundred journalists coming to CERN will follow the events from within the Globe via video links from the CCC and the four experiments‘control rooms
Experiment spokespersons and a few others will be on hand in the Globe for interviews

CMS Control Room, P5, France
Aim to see LHC beam passing through CMS (beam monitors) and beam halo/beam gas events if possible
CMS Control Room will run as usual– Press will not be present in person – But be aware that the DAQ area has two video conference units
watching the show will be main video feed (as CCC and all experiments). Please do not fiddle with the video systems!

All the usual sub-detector, data quality monitoring, and offline computing operations activities
Access is restricted to only the required shift crew / experts
Press visits hourly (from Globe) – 6 visits of 12 journalists each– CMS has group of tour guides on hand
BBC TV and Radio permanently present in CMS Centre

How to follow the event
At CERN– The video stream of the event will be shown all day in: Council
Chamber, Main Auditorium, IT Auditorium, AB Auditorium Prévessin, 40-S2-A01, 40-S2-C01.
– Afternoon: AB Auditorium Meyrin, AT Auditorium– 50” Plasma Screen in the CMS Centre (but no tourists please)
Offsite– You can watch the event on the webcast: http://webcast.cern.ch
(but limited number of connections) … maybe EVO – The video feed of the event will be broadcast via EBU satellite to
media outlets worldwide; see link on CERN press office page

Journalist Visits from Globe to CMS Centre
Visits to CMS Centre: six visits of up to 12 journalists / visit – Schedule, names, countries: see next slide– Brought hourly by navette from Globe for 30 minute tour
First go to 354 / 1-019 for 5 minute introduction to CMS – Dave Barney, Claire Timlin … other volunteers ?
CMS Centre ``tour guides’’ should check list of journalists on each tour and show up for those matching your country– Need a few people to guarantee to be there all AM / PM
Please minimize disturbance to CMS Centre operations– Don’t disturb people on shift– Keep away from the BBC filming and video interviews– Keep all visitors outside the arcs of the consoles
