CMA CGM launches operation at the new West Africa hub

With the "CMA CGM Bianca" begins the commercial operation at the Kribi Container Terminal in

Cameroon. In a consortium with French and Chinese partners, CMA CGM develops and operates the

port to become a hub.

The "CMA CGM Bianca", with 8,721 TEU and 335 m in length, was now also the largest ship that had

previously operated a port in Cameroon.

With four weekly services to Kribi, from and to northern Europe, but not limited to, the French are

strengthening their offer in the region. There are connections to the Democratic Republic of the

Congo and Gabon via feeder service, and the multimodal offer is being extended to the hinterland,

Chad and the Central African Republic.

CMA CGM sees Kribi as an important hub in the region. The Cameroonian market is growing and the

terminal in Kribi is to become one of the main ports for Cameroon, in addition to Douala, according

to the shipping company. In addition, the terminal will provide the country with a modern

infrastructure adapted to the new generation of cargo ships. Rodolphe Saadé, Chairman and CEO of

CMA CGM, stated at the opening ceremony in Kribi that they wanted to develop door-to-door

services locally.

The terminal in Kribi operates CMA CGM together with Bolloré Transport & Logistics and the Chinese

CHEC as part of a 25-year public-private partnership with the state of Cameroon. The capacity should

now be further expanded.

The EURAF 4 service links the Mediterranean with West Africa through the Marseilles, Barcelona,

Valencia, Casablanca, Algeciras, Tangier, Dakar, Lome, Bata, Malabo, Apapa, Tincan, Onne, Kribi, Port

Gentil, Libreville, Douala, Algeciras, Marseilles , EURAF 5 between Northern Europe and West Africa

runs through Antwerp, Le Havre, Lisbon, Algeciras, Pointe Noire, Luanda, Kribi, Douala, Abidjan,

Algeciras, Antwerp. The ASAF service, connecting Kribi with Asia via the rotation Qingdao, Xingang /

Tianjin, Busan, Shanghai, Ningbo, Nansha, Tanjung Pelepas, Singapore, Pointe des Galets, Cape Town,

Pointe Noire, Kribi, Luanda, Cape Town, Port Kelang, Singapore, Qingdao. Kribi has connections to

Port Gentil, Boma, Matadi and Libreville via the West Feeder Service.
