Dear Members

At the onset, I thank all members of CMA who provided me an opportunity to serv

this august body of management professional in our region. I deeply appreciate t

outpouring support, understanding, and encouragement given by members and mento

in accomplishing a part of the agenda set forth by me in consultation with the members

the executive body.

In the year of my tenure, we had undertaken some initiatives such as launching o

'Women Wing” and providing a platform to the same to start some activities under t

wing. The CMA foundation year was celebrated under the aegis of this wing and w

dedicated to 'Women's Day'. Other initiatives for the benefaction of youth we

undertaken, such as inculcating awareness about skills development and corporate soc

responsibility programmes in some fields. We organised successfully 'Shaping You

Minds' program of AIMA, besides participating in the Chandigarh Carnival, whic

have given us wider exposure and publicity amongst the youth. Other than these, w

took steps to reach out beyond the domains of CMA and helped other LMAs in t

area to come up. In order to associate some eminent citizens of the tricity, we recognise

their services to the city in their respective fields, and to those who brought laurels to th

city, by conferring upon them life time achievement award.

The initiatives and programmes undertaken during the year by respective committees a

consolidated by Mr. J.N.Vohra, Secretary General, in this Annual Report. I thank M

Vohra for his consistent and steadfast support in implementing our programmes.Much more needs to be done by our association to ensure continuity in the agenda s

forth by my predecessors and by my executive. We need to do talent hunt to enhan

the quality base of our membership and develop them to lead the organisation in th

future. Even though, this year our membership development committee could indu

large individual members and organisational members and life members, thanks to t

efforts of Mr. A.K Gandhi, yet retention of membership still remains a worrying facto

In coming days, we need greater participation of the professional institution

management fraternity and industry in the programmes to be undertaken by th

association. A review of our programmes, services and style of functioning, has alread

become due.CMA is a member-led organisation represented by institutions and individuals comin

from varied fields of academia, businesses, industry and social sciences. The associatio

represents management fraternity working across the full range of manufacturing, financ

and service industry located in the region.

As a premier professional body, CMA has an important role to play in harnessing th

talent and interests of its members and mustering their active and enthusiastic views an

contributions for realising greater awareness of our role, appreciation and achieveme

of the objectives we promote.

I know membership is the real value and asset of our organisation, more than its balanc

sheet. We, to whom membership has put the trust by providing us the opportunity to

lead this organisation, should not belie their expectations and must endeavour to brin

in inspiring achievements in order to build public image and confidence in the industry o

the region so that fruits of our deliberations and activities reach to the younger lots of th

area who are destined to take the association forward.

In all earnestness, I seek the indulgence of all those who have served this organisation, a

one time or the other, to continue maintain their participative relationship with the

organisation for working together with the new generation of leaders, emerging out of it

membership, who has energy and passion in taking this organisation forward to nurtur

the domain we represent.

In the end, once again I thank the executive members, and members at large for the

support and wishes. I wish them all a successful year ahead.

SECRETARY GENERAL REPORT - ACTIVITIES - 2010-11

Launching of the 'CMA Women Wing”

In order to highlight some social causes, an initiative was undertaken to launch “Women Wing”. The idea was to involve honourable ladie

of our members and others who can play a meaningful and important role and display their professional acumen to empower and mobilize

the women of the tricity for active participation in matters of city development like; water supply, education, cleanliness, health system,

and environmental justice, besides, honouring women of mettle and substance.

Pictures of some of the programmes undertaken under “Women Wing” are shown below;

It was conceived that the wing willparticipate in city festivals, such as

Chandigarh Carnival and organise special

days such as “Parents Day”, “Teachers

Days” etc. Lady members will visit schools

and colleges to spread social messages of

relevance to the youth, besides inviting

eminent women to deliver talks and as chief

guest.

We hope in coming years this wing will play

an important role to give a new direction to

the activities of the association.
