Hillbilly Daze Fund Raiser Club members Todd Rose, KE4YAH, Steve McFadden, KA4TJD, Paul Harrington IV, KF4YRK, and Paul Harrington III, KB4ENQ, helped raise funds for WCARC at the Millville Hillbilly Daze event. Results will be included in the October Newsletter. Hamfest Season Nears End Hamfest remaining this year, near Woodford County: Vette City Hamfest in Bowling Green and Hazard Hamfest. Shown above, 10 sets of finals, looking for a radio to keep warm this winter. Trouble Shooting Tip When working on older equipment, electrolytic capacitors are usually suspect, and often rightly so. But keep in mind, old carbon composition resistor are also capable of creating headaches. The 47k pictured below measured 61k, and was the third found out of spec so far. After replacing the resistor, this old Marauder will now pick the transmit relay, but still no output. It is tempting to measure all of the resistors in a failing circuit. Though not scientific, it can yeild results as in this case. Caution: low readings are most likely caused by other circuit elements, and this technique is not recommended in solid state equipment.

The Woodford County Amateur Radio Club meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m., at the Versailles Fire Station #2 on Big Sink Pike ( 38°3'34" N 84°43'11" W ). Anyone interested in Amateur Radio is cordially invited. The meeting is held in the basement, please enter via stairwell in the rear of the Fire Station.

The September 3rd meeting of the Woodford County Amateur Radio Club was called to order by the Club President, Jerry Mueller, KC4WZO, at 7:05 p.m.

Treasurers Report: Steve McFadden, KA4TJD, reported an opening balance of $$$$$.$$. He indicated that $$$.$$ was paid out for Field Day expenses, resulting in a closing balance of $$$$$.$$. Web Site: Richard Jones, KD4GNX, reported that the August Newsletter has been uploaded to the web site.

Fund Raising: Todd Rose, KE4YAH, led the members in finalizing plans for the Millville Hillbilly Daze event.

New Business: The Club's digipeater is currently down. Greg Shaw, N4GOS, is working on the power supply. A loaner is available, but there is an issue with gaining access to the equipment. Discussion revolved around moving the digipeater to a more accessible location.

Old Business: Steve McFadden, KA4TJD, reported that he is still waiting on information about the event at Midway.

The question on club polo shirts is still outstanding.

Plans were made to visit Newton's Attic to survey possible shack locations.

Repeater: Reports indicate that even though the 220 machine has been placed back in service, it is still exhibiting the original problem. Also reported, the 440 machine seems to have power supply hum in the audio. 09/04/14
