Winners – Terry and Myles with 18 points2nd Prize – Maria and Louis with 17 points3rd Prize – Eric and Peter T with 11 pointsLadies’ High Score – 117 Margaret MMen’s High Score – not achieved

Last week seven teams played six rounds. Terry and Miles topped the podium unbeaten despite numerous complaints from Terry about so many of his darts being off the board! Tight play for the top spots with the rest of us floundering somewhat. We welcomed Peter as a new player with us. Now we have two Margarets and two Peters; for reporting purposes we hope all double ups continue to have different surname initials!

Fourteen players represented a return to our more usual numbers, still with a wide range of skills. Of course we have room for a lot more. Come along and join us in the nicely warm Sports Lounge from 7:45pm on Friday eveningsDave

Monthly meetings are held on the third (3) Wednesday of each month in the Ambassador Room (Level 1) at 7.00pm with judging commencing at 7.30pm. If you have an interest in photography, at any level, you are most welcome to join us.

You are under no obligation, simply enjoy the meeting, have a coffee and a chat with likeminded people and you just never know - you may have found a new interest.

We look forward to meeting you!Nancy Tear

billiards & snooker

In last Thursday’s social handicap snooker 03/09/2015 there was an exciting first semi final when Vaughan against the odds defeated defeated M R on a double black. In a frame of snooker you can’t get any closer than that. The second semi featured the 2 inform players of the snooker club at the moment in Jassi & Sebastian. In a close match Jassi was able to defeat Sebastian. On form it looked like a no contest in the final with Jassi who has been in such great form against Vaughan whose form has been up & down this season. Any thing can happen in a frame of snooker & so it proved when Vaughan shocked Jassi by winning the final. Well done Vaughan. If you like Vaughan would like to win our friendly Thursday night social handicap snooker competition all you have to do is go down to Burwood R.S.L sport’s bar prior to 7.15 pm & have your name placed on the list & for only $2 you can compete for the wish cards. Late comers may miss out once the draw has been done. Please help who ever is running the comp by having your name placed on the list on time.

Due to the N.S.W R.S.L playing the Majors & Minors billiards competition there was no play in the N.S.W R.S.L teams single handicap competition last week. In the Minors billiards competition which was played at Gladesville R.S.L on Monday the 31/08/2015 Geoff Willis beat Burwood’s own Adwin Teh. Well done Adwin. In the Majors billiards competition Awin & Paul H represented Burwood R.S.L which was played at Burwood R.S.L on the 01/09/2015 but did not make the finals in a strong field. Ron Vidler was able to defeat Peter Burke in the final. Well done to Ron who is one of the best billiards players in this competition. On Tuesday the 08/09/2015 the Burwood billiards team travel to Petersham R.S.L to take on their arch rivals in the 2nd round of the N.S.W R.S.L teams single handicap billiards competition.

Hope to see you round the tables,SNOOKERED 1

Pull on it

This preacher was looking for a good used lawnmower one day. He found one at a yard sale that Little Johnny happened to be manning. “This mower work, son?” the preacher asked.

Little Johnny said, “Sure does -- just pull on the cord hard, though.”

The preacher took the mower home and when he got ready to mow he yanked and pulled and tugged on that cord. Nothing worked. It wouldn’t start. Thinking he’d been swindled, he took the mower back to Little Johnny’s house. “You said this would work if I pulled on the cord hard enough.”

“Well,” Johnny said, “you need to curse at it sometimes.”

The preacher was aghast. “I’ve not done that in years!”

“Just keep yanking on that cord, Preacher. It’ll come back to you.”
