What is a Club?
A club is an organisation set up for the benefit of its members, e.g. Golf Club, Rugby Club, GAA Club, Bridge Club, etc.
Members elect officials (Chairperson, Secretary & Treasurer) to run the club at the AGM (Annual General Meeting)
What does the Chairperson do?
Runs the club Chairs meetings Keeps order at meetings Follows the agenda Puts motions to a vote
What does the Secretary do? Calls meetings Sends agenda to the members
(the agenda is a list of topics to be discussed at the meeting)
Arranges the meetings Takes note at the meetings of decisions and
writes up the minutes (the minutes are a written record of what was discussed and decided at a meeting)
