Commanding Officer Families and Friends of CLR-15(FWD),

WOW – can’t believe we’ve been here for a month already ! Time flies – when we’re doing what Marines do – although, I’m sure

you have a much different perspective…

You should all be INCREDIBLY PROUD of your Marine or sailor – they are truly living up the title. We have been busy, busy,

busy since our arrival. We ―officially‖ took over from our predecessors on 27 September and are now providing general support

distribution, maintenance, medical and supply services to the Marines and sailors in Helmand Province.

We can’t thank the Marines and sailors from the 10.1 rotation enough. They were the consummate professionals during the

turnover period and did everything in their power to enable us to hit the ground running.

We’re all starting to settle into our routines; the days are long – but the weeks fly by so quickly (probably because we’re so

busy!). Most, if not all, are working 12-16 hours a day (several more than that) – really, whatever it takes to get the job done

(for that day).

We’re living in pre-fabricated buildings that have both air-conditioning and heat. It just started to cool off within the last

week; averaging highs in the mid-80s and lows in the 60s. The Dining Facilities (DFAC) are well stocked, provide a variety of

meals, and allows us to take snacks with us – so there’s no shortage of food !

All in all – Camp Leatherneck is a bee-hive of activity … and we’re doing our fair share, to say the least !

Have also had a chance to visit with our Marines and sailors who work at several of the Forward Operating Bases (FOBs). Again

– they are doing GREAT ! Life may be a bit more ―rustic‖ in some of these locations … but, to quote Sgt Jorgenson – ―it’s the

ALL MARINE experience !‖ No complaints from anyone we’ve talked to – with the exception that it usually takes the mail a lit-

tle bit longer to reach some of the more remote locations where we have our Marines and sailors.

Thank you all so much for bearing the burdens of our absence. Answering our nation’s call is what we signed up for; unfortu-

nately, that means you -- our loved ones, family, spouse and children -- are now without mom, dad, husband, wife, son, daughter,

etc. It’s very difficult – and we wouldn’t be able to do what we do – without your support.

Please keep us all in your thoughts and/or prayers – you’re definitely in ours.

If anyone has any questions or concerns – please let me know.

Semper Fidelis,

Michael Murchison

Sergeant Major

Friends, Families, Fellow Marines & Sailors,

The majority of our Marines and Sailors have been in country for over 30 days now and they are doing great things

all over Afghanistan. Upon our arrival, the 10.1 team turnover was top notch. The Commanding Officer and I soon

realized what a great mission that we have here. We have warriors all over the Area of Operation which requires a

great deal of professionalism and communication amongst our leaders. LtCol Murchison and I visit our Marines and

Sailors that are assigned to the outer Forward Operating Base’s ( FOB) each week. These FOBs stretch across

the country and it is amazing to see the things they are accomplishing with very limited resources. Now that all of

our companies are here and have settled into a steady routine, they are making what seems like the impossible

happen; repairing broken vehicles, re-supplying Marines that are in remote locations, securing convoys, and provid-

ing medical support to keep everyone healthy. Although mail takes a little while, please continue to send. It is a

huge morale booster for our warriors young and old. With the holidays rapidly approaching, ensure that close at-

tention is paid to the ―recommended‖ send and deliver dates. The pace is fierce and each service member has a

very important part. CLR-15 (FWD) is a team and as a team, we will succeed.

Next month we will celebrate 235 years of excellence. Happy Birthday Marines!!!

Semper Fidelis, Sergeant Major C. S. Belle

Only God Can Give You Financial Security

―but remember that the LORD your God, gives you the power to gain wealth, in order to confirm His covenant He swore to your fathers, as it is today.‖ Deuteronomy 8:18 (HCSB)

As you enter the next ten years, your decade of destiny, it is important that you trust God with

your finances. If you want God to bless you financially, you must remain focused on the truth

that he is the source of your finances and he is the one who supplies your needs.

What does that mean? It means I'm not looking to an employer for my security. I'm not look-

ing to my savings for security. I'm not looking to anyone or anything other than God to supply

my needs.

Let me illustrate it this way: When I turn on the water, I don't really think the water comes

from the faucet. I know that the water really comes from a reservoir. It just comes to me

through the faucet. In the same way, the income that God wants to give you may come through

a job or through something else.

But the source is God.

If you trust in a bank account, the bank account can be taken away. If you trust in your sav-

ings, you can lose it. The only true security you can have is when you put your trust in God. He

is the starting point of your finances. He is the one and only true source of your finances.

This means you don't need to worry about which faucet he uses to supply your needs. In a sense

he says, 'If I turn off one faucet, I can just as easily turn on another. If you lose one job, I

can give you another. I am your source, not your job. I am your source, not your bank account.'

Blessings,

Chaplain David R. Bradley

Camp Leatherneck is providing the Company

Family and Friends,

First off, I wanted to say that all the Marines and Sailors from General Support Motor Transport Company (GSMT) are safe and doing well here in Afghanistan. The Marines and Sailors have done an outstanding job of taking over the daily missions from 10-1 Marines and have done so without any pause in the mission. The Marines and Sailors have been working day and night, conducting numerous con-voys all over the Helmand province here in Afghani-stan. GSMT’s mission is a truly critical one, which ensures all units have the required items to continue to accomplish their missions. GSMT has been able to do this while coming together over a few short months this summer and it has been amazing to see the Company quickly transform into a team. It is this team that also relies on the support of its loved ones back home. I want to thank the families and friends of GSMT for all your dedication and support. We rely on you continually and I know all of you are making great sacrifices. We are truly thankful for your contin-ued support to the Marines and Sailors of the Com-pany. I am truly proud and honored to be the Com-manding Officer of these Marines and Sailors and am looking forward to the continuous GREAT work from them.

First and foremost, I want to extend much gratitude, respect, and many thanks to the friends and families of General Support Mo-tor Transportation Company (GSMT) for supporting your Marines and Sailors during the first months leading into our deployment. Since arriving in our Area of Operation- throughout September lead-ing into the Holidays, your loved ones have been doing an out-standing job in providing the Logistical, Maintenance, Heavy Equip-ment, and Operational Support needed for Combat Logistics Regi-ment-15 to successfully accomplish several missions linked through-out the Helmand Providence. As a GSMT Company, that translates into your Marines and Sailors spending many long hours doing what they do best- driving, lifting loads, and dedicating efforts in fixing what doesn’t work.

Currently, our Company’s strength and moral has grown from within as each day progresses and nears forward. That’s a testament to the tremendous hard work and dedication your Service Members have contributed on a continued basis, coupled with the outstanding support received from their loved ones at home. Rest assure, that we will continue to press toward the accomplishment of various mis-sions tasked- in the most safest and successful manners. As we move into the upcoming months, I want to personally convey that your thoughts, prayers, and words of encouragement are echoed on this end to all within GSMT Company. It is again, your efforts that will aid to expedite our safe return home. Additionally, the Marines and Sailors are gaining support from outside organizations and citi-zens who have graciously donated their time, energy, and resources through letters and care packages by way of the Adopt a Hero Pro-gram, and through generous donations of goods received by our Family Readiness Officer (FRO), Mrs. Lynda Schubert. We as a Command are here to provide you the links of support you need to facilitate a smooth and successful deployment and redeployment of your loved ones. I would like to remind you that our FRO, Mrs. Schubert, has continued to strive for perfection- in dedicating her time and energy in being the bridge between the Command Level here at GSMT Company and loved ones. She can be reached via email at [email protected] or by phone at 760-725-6750. For she is the direct link for only GSMT Company, her efforts of con-vening and/or relaying concerns, guidance, and information to the Company Leadership and loved ones have been nothing short of outstanding.

Lastly, thank-you all for your continued efforts of support, as it means entirely the world to your loved ones serving honorably and without hesitation during our Nation’s call to duty. Remain Semper Fidelis!

Best Wishes,1stSgt Adam E. Fraser

CO REMARKS

Happy Halloween! This is our first News Letter and I would like to say

greetings to all of Maintenance Company’s families and friends. This past

month has been very busy, but productive for all the sections within Main-

tenance Company. The Marines are doing incredible things here repairing

and maintaining a vast amount of equipment and machinery. It is a true

honor and privilege to be serving along side of them.

The weather is starting to get cooler here in Afghanistan and we are all

looking forward to the holiday periods. Although we will be apart from our

love ones during this time, our holiday committee has planned some great

events to keep everyone motivated and in the holiday spirit. We recently

had our Halloween door and jack-o-lantern decorating contest and al-

though all the sections went above and beyond on their entries, Engineer

Maintenance Platoon came out the winner.

Since we have been out here we have had a few additions to the Mainte-

nance Company family. I would like to congratulate SSgt Houseman and

his girlfriend Michelle on the birth of their little boy Jaxon, LCpl Sales and

his wife Morgan on the birth of their little girl Morgan, and Cpl Wheeler

and wife Andrea on the birth of their little girl Miya. Congratulations to you

all.

Mail is a big morale boost out here for the Marines. It doesn’t matter if it is

a care package or a simple letter, getting something from the outside world

always seems to brighten a Marine’s day. Keep it coming!

We could not do what we do out here without the love and support from our

families and friends. I want to personally thank you all for being there for

your Marine. We are one month down with five more to go. Time is flying

by for us and your Warriors will be home before you know it.

Semper Fidelis

1STSGT REMARKS

Friends and families of Maintenance Company,

I will begin by telling you that the Marines of Maintenance Com-

pany have done an outstanding job since our arrival in September.

Every job placed before them has not only been completed, it has

been completed beyond the Commanding Officer and my expecta-

tions. The Marines’ work ethic demonstrates their drive to accom-

plish the missions before them. I am very proud to serve with this

group of professionals.

Even with the Company’s fast tempo, we had the opportunity to

support LCpl Mayorga Vasquez’s naturalization process, which

included his oath ceremony at Camp Kandahar in early October.

This type of action is truly a reflection of our Marines’ patriotism and

dedication to the service of their country, protecting the opportuni-

ties and freedom it represents.

I would like to personally thank our families and loved ones for all

the mail and support that we have received since arriving in Af-

ghanistan. There is no way that we could continue to sustain the

operations without your encouragement. Please continue to support

your Marine and keep in them in your thoughts and prayers.

Semper Fidelis,

1stSgt E. J. Robles

Families and Friends of Security Company,

Hello, I want to introduce myself, I am Capt Kathy Jensen, and I am the Security Company

Commander. It has been my privilege to be assigned to this company and to be serving with your

sons, daughters, husbands, wives, fathers, mothers, nephews, nieces, friends, significant others,

and etc. They are all in the true sense professionals.

I want to let you know that your Marines and Sailors have been doing an outstanding job out

here in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. You can be proud of each and everyone of them, they have

been working very hard to ensure a continuous level of support to Forward Operating Bases (FOBs)

in our Area of Operations (AO). Your Marines and Sailors are in a high state of readiness, and

when not supporting missions directly, they are continually training and prepping gear to maintain

their high state of readiness.

I would like to let you know that I am proud of each and everyone of the Security Company

Marines and Sailors. From the very beginning they have been tested in various ways and have al-

ways proven their metal. You should know that they are directly making things better for thou-

sands of other US Marines, Sailors, Soldiers, Airmen, and also NATO service members from

around the globe here in Afghanistan. Security Company Marines and Sailors are making things bet-

ter for their deployed brothers and sisters-in-arms by supporting tactical movements of essential

supplies, these supplies are the life blood of these outlying bases.

Thank you for your continual support. The care packages that you all have sent so far for

them have kept their morale and spirits high and it definitely always puts a huge smile onto their

faces. Again, thank you for your support and keeping the home front going in their absence. If you

need, I can be reached at [email protected]

Family, friends and loved ones,

My Name is First Sergeant Gar-

cia. I am the Company 1ST Sgt for Supply

Company. I joined the unit back in August

from CLC-16 in Yuma AZ. I have been en-

trusted to ensure that your Marine or

Sailor executes their duties in a profes-

sional manner. As their 1ST Sgt, I play a

big role in their welfare and career devel-

opment along with many other duties.

I must say, as we are approaching

the 2nd month in our deployment, know

that your support back home means every-

thing to each Marine. If the bills are paid,

kids are taken care of, and everything is

good at home, your loved one can safely

keep his or her head in the fight. Your

Marines are performing with honor and

dignity out here in Afghanistan. Our com-

pany is experiencing tiresome hours and

huge challenges but your Marines and Sail-

ors are modern warriors that thrive during

these times.

Family and Friends of Supply Company,

A lot has happened since depart-

ing the 22 Area Parade Deck on 18 Sep-

tember. Most of the Company remained

overnight in 5 star hotels in Sophia,

Bulgaria while travelling to Manas and

then onward to Camp Leatherneck,

Afghanistan which I am sure makes for

great stories. We then joined up with

the 10.1 Marines and Sailors and had a

reunion while taking over the operations

from our hard charging brothers and sis-

ters. All of the sections within the com-

pany are working extremely hard and I

think that has a lot to do with how fast

the hours are going by. I am starting to

get a little surprised when we come up to

another Sunday...which is our day to get

a little bit extra sleep.

I am very proud of how

professional and hard working every single

Marine and Sailor in Supply Company

is. They are well trained and led by

great NCO’s, SNCO’s and dedicated Offi-

cers. Your loved ones are tired, dusty

and sore from hard work—and that makes

a happy Marine!

There are several fundamentals of physical discipline in

our martial arts that are used throughout any type of

confrontation situation. These fundamentals form he

basis for all martial arts instruction and techniques. Ad-

ditionally, you must prepare your body for the rigors of

combat. To do so, your body must process the attributes

of both toughness and flexibility. Like iron, you must be

able to absorb and give out punishment but have the

flexibility to prevent injuries. The proper execution of

these fundamentals will enable you to effectively per-

form martial arts techniques that may very well save

your life, or lives of fellow Marines.
