Cloud Strife

• A young man who hides his introverted personality behind a cool facade. He admired the hero Sephiroth and aimed to be part of the ShinRa Company’s elite army “SOLDIER” like he was, but his hopes were dashed along the way, and he fell victim to one of the experiments of Hojo, a ShinRa scientist. Due to the influence of the Jenova cells implanted in his body he acted out a false persona, but with the support of his friends he regains his true self and grows as a person.

Tifa Lockhart

• The fighter who hides a surprising amount of power behind her beautiful, well-featured appearance. Apart from being Cloud’s childhood friend, she is also the woman who understands him all too well and devotedly supports the mentally-weak side of him. Although she seems spirited and cheerful, she actually has a family-oriented and modest personality, often paying attention to her surroundings. Filled with hatred for ShinRa, which had snatched her hometown away from her, she was once a member of the anti-ShinRa organization AVALANCHE led by Barret and immersed herself in their radical activities.

Zack Fair

• A SOLDIER brimming with kindness, he treasures the bonds between people and would sacrifice his life without hesitation for a comrade facing a crisis. He was Aerith’s first love and close friends with Cloud and Sephiroth. Becoming one of Hojo’s samples as a result of the Nibelheim incident, he met with the last moments of his untimely death whilst escaping with Cloud. Zack’s personality had a heavy influence on the formation of Cloud’s personality when he was under Jenova’s control.

Sephiroth

• A SOLDIER: First Class who possessed outstanding merits, was admired as a hero, and after he learned of his birth, began a series of murders in his quest to be become ruler of the Planet. Though he was killed twice, his spirit will not return to the Lifestream, and remnants of his aggression continue to exist on the Planet. For Cloud, he is the foe that destroyed his hometown, a symbol of the past he must break away from.

Aerith

• The legendary race, the Cetra, are known to have the ability of speaking with the Planet and leading people to the “Promised Land” where supreme happiness awaits. Aerith is the last survivor of this race. ShinRa took away her parents’ lives and then chased after her for scientific experiments. Although Aerith had miserable circumstances, her mind still overflows with brightness and sometimes mischief; no matter what happens, she never gives up hope. After the battle fighting to protect the Planet, Aerith returned to the Lifestream. But after that, she still exists in many people’s mind as someone very important.

Vincent

• A nihilistic, reticent, former member of the Turks. While he was a bodyguard for ShinRa scientists, Hojo used him as a test subject in experiments that caused him to change into monsters (”Metamorphize”). The legendary demon “Chaos”, which resides in Vincent’s body gives him near immortality, and his appearance remains youthful, as if he is still in his 20’s from long ago. His marksmanship skills were unparalleled in his days as a Turk.
