The Traditional dress in Tunisia differs depending on the region and the ceremony. People of the south
tend to have more brightly coloured clothing than people of the north.
Ago, our grandfathers used to wear “jebba”. It’s an ample traditional cloth. Men wore it because the weather is hot. They also wore
“chéchia” on their heads. It’s a red hat and it protected them against
cold weather.Women used to wear a veil called
“safsari” when they rarely went out. They needed to hide their faces
men.

Modern clothes In Tunisia now, people dress in a
very modern way. They take their fashion cues from Europe (mainly
France) and dress accordingly. Clothes of the Modern World looks at how fashions have changed in the last 200 years, as increasing
industrialization has brought a greater range of
garments and new fabrics, and traces the
development of both haute couture and street style.
