Pratt on Sept. 26 at 4 p.m. The guest speaker was Dr. Serenus Churn of Mount Zion Baptist Church. Prior to coming to Second New Bethel Baptist Church the Rev. Pratt had held pastoral duties at New Bethel Baptist Church in Mocksville and was Associate Pastor of Saint Stephens Baptist Church. The Rev. Pratt has attended Winston-Salem State University, Forsyth Technical Community College, Virginia Union, Rev. Zarious B. Pratt and Winston-Salem Bible College where he completed his theological studies. Among his pastoral responsibili- ties the Rev. Pratt still finds time to serve as sports counselor at North Forsyth High School. He is known by many high school students as "Daddy Pratt." He further expands his community service activities through his involvement with the United Way of Forsyth County and has recently completed Project Blue- print for the City of Winston. The Rev. Pratt is known to numerous congregations through out the triad as an eloquent speaker who never looses sight of his spiritual commitment He uses his skills as a "catalyst and encourager" as he describes them to good advantage. He has a special insight and enjoys working with people. The Rev. Zavi- ous B. Pratt believes that his greatest contribution to society is being in service to God and mankind.

Chi'iilch to Celebrate 7th Anniversary Second New Bethel Baptist

Church celebrated the 7th anniver­ sary of their pastor, the Rev. Zavi­ ous B. Pratt and his family. He shared this moment with his wife, Connell; three daughters, Lisa Pratt-Scaife, Shantell and Shenica; his grandson, C.J. and son-in-law, Todd Scaife. His anniversary cele­ bration was also shared by many well wishers and friends. Pratt began his ministry 14 years ago at St. Stephens Baptist Church under· the administration of the Rev. J.R.

Samuels, where he served as Asso­ ciate Minister. Before coming to Second New Bethel, he was pastor of New Bethel Baptist Church in Mocksville.

The theme for the service was "Seeking Preacher Perseverance." Dr. Serenus Churn of Mount Zion Baptist Church was the guest speaker. Churn was joined by the Mount Zion Baptist Church Choir and congregation.

Pratt has been employed with R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company

for the past 18 years. In addition to his full schedule he is involved with the United Way of Forsyth County, and is a graduate of Project Blue· print for the City of Winston­ Salem. Before his association with project Blueprint he was one of RJR's Loaned Executives during the 1993 general campaign.

Second New Bethel Church, 1990 New Walkertown Road, Winston-Salem, will host the 36th annual Prince Hall Day Sept. 27 at 3:00 p.m. The Rev. Zavious B. Pratt, host pastor, will be the speaker.

Zavious Bernard Pratt is the son of Alma Barber and the late James Pratt. The husband to the former Cornell Isom Rev. Pratt and father of three daughters Shantell (Jared) Pratt-Maddox, Lisa (Todd) Pratt­ Scaife and Shenica Pratt. He is also the grandfather of Charles Samuels Jr. and Tylah Cierra Symone Scaife.

Pratt co~ed his theological

studies at Winston-Salem Bible College. He has attended Win­ ston-Salem State University, Forsyth Technical Institute and Virginia Union.

-, He began his ministry 19 years ago under the pastorage of the Rev. J. R. Samuels, where he served as an associate minister. He was licensed to preach on May 27, 1979 and later ordained by the Rowan Baptist Association on July 11, 1984. Before coming to Second New Bethel he was Pastor of New Bethel B~hurch in Mocksville for one year and a half
