WARNING: Any reference to x-ray exposure, intravenous contrast dosage, and other
medication is intended as a reference guideline only. The guidelines in this document
do not substitute for the judgment of a healthcare provider. Each scan requires medical
judgment by the healthcare provider about exposing the patient to ionizing radiation.
Use the As Low As Reasonably Achievable radiation dose principle to balance factors such
as the patient’s condition, size and age; region to be imaged; and diagnostic task.

software provides pixel-perfect subtraction of the bone and the aneurysm clip. 3D analysis
software allows multiobject manipulation between the two volumes acquired with a dose of less than 1 mSv.

Extensive pulmonary contusion is demonstrated bilaterally in this CT scan of the chest. A pleural
effusion is also seen in the left lung.
Lung Contusion
A fracture of the nose following a fall is demonstrated in these 3D images of a 22-year-old woman. The use
of a 0.5 mm slice thickness permits these small bones to be visualized in exquisite detail.

A tumor is demonstrated in the right lower lobe in this 83-year-old woman. An old fracture
of the T12 vertebra is also seen in the sagittal image acquired with bone settings. Multiple
reconstructions can be generated from the original isotropic dataset, eliminating the need to
rescan the patient.
