1st STEP VISIT TO BELLORA FACTORY

Let’s go to visit a factory!


What is a factory? A bulding or place where things are made

or where industrial processes take place.

Who is a factory worker? He is a person who operates a machine in a factory.


Visit to Bellora factory . 23rd February 2017

We visited former Bellora factory. It is very close to our school. In 1923 the Bellora textile factory was founded in Leonardo da Vinci street by the Bellora family. The factory employed over 1000 people. Their main activity was to apply patterns to fabrics and dye them.

In 1986 it closed down. Since then the factory has been divided into smaller different companies. Nowadays there are about 30 different companies.


They explained what they do and how they expanded the building. We saw an old original window, from Bellora time and the new parts. We carried out a sort of experiment. “look at the colour wall and find the colour you prefer for your classroom.” We have chosen subtle (delicate) ocean. They prepared it for us. We also tried a new product to clean a dirty wall. It was interesting and fun. Finally they gave us a present each: some chocolate and a football .

We visited one of them: Checchi colorificio, a paint factory.

Visit to Bellora factory : The old chimney What is a chimney? It is a pipe used to expel smoke out of a building. They are generally made of red bricks. The space inside a chimney is called a flue. Chimneys are typically vertical. The Bellora chimney is more than 50 metres high, it is made of red bricks. It doesn’t work any more. Nowdays it is an archological relic.

ARNETTA RIVER TODAY

ARNETTA RIVER IN THE PAST

There is no pollution. Nowdays you can see

plants, trees and bushes.

You can see animals such us ducks,

roosters and hens.

Water is pure.

There was no vegetation.

Water was polluted.

You could only see rubbish and waste materials. No animals anywhere. The colour of Arnetta changed every day

In the countryside near Gallarate you can also see a grey heron.

They came back after many years.

Mr Bevilacqua, the president of Sestante association, showed us some pictures of our area in the past, and we found some interesting material on the Arnetta stream.

The Sestante association is a group of amateur photographers.

What is a camera? A camera is a device used to take photographs.
