Chinese New Year Celebration CLIFTON PARK – A Chinese New Year Celebration will take place at the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library on Saturday, January 14 at 2pm. All are welcome to this family program. Local performer and educator, Diane Payette will host the pro-gram, which will include songs and an introduction of the cul-tural symbols and traditions of Chinese New Year. An authentic Dragon Parade to welcome the Year of the Dragon will be a highlight. Children are encouraged to wear red. Chinese musi-cians, drummers, dancers and a children’s singing troupe from the Chinese Community will participate in this program as a dress rehearsal for a program scheduled at The EGG. All Stars Art ExhibitSARATOGA COUNTY – Saratoga Arts is pleased to announce that its eighth annual High School All Stars Art Exhibition will be on view in The Arts Center Gallery from through January 28. Students Offered Chance to Win ScholarshipsCAPITAL REGION – TCT Federal Credit Union is offering local high-school seniors a chance to win scholarships for col-lege. TCT is participating in the Credit Union Association of New York’s statewide credit union scholarship program, which provides credit union members with $500 or $1,000 scholar-ships. TCT offers an additional two scholarships. To be eli-gible, students must be high-school seniors attending two or four-year accredited educational institutions for the fi rst time in the fall of 2012. They must also be members of TCT Federal Credit Union. Students/applicants will be competing against other credit union members from across the state. Applicants will be judged based upon their academic achievements, extra-curricular and community activities and the quality of written essays. Program on Lyme DiseaseCLIFTON PARK – On Friday, January 13 at 10:30 am, Holly Ahern, Professor of Microbiology at SUNY Adirondack, will speak about the Lyme Disease at the Friday Morning Free-For-All at the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library. Lyme Disease is characterized by a set of symptoms that follow the bite of a tick. As currently defi ned by the CDC, Lyme Disease is associ-ated with a “bulls-eye” rash at the site of the tick bite, fl u-like symptoms and swollen, painful joints, particularly the knees. Infection by a bacterium named Borrelia, a spirochete that has an affi nity for connective tissue and may invade blood, joints, and the central nervous system, is the primary cause of these symptoms. However, there is much more to Lyme Disease than meets the eye. All are welcome to this drop in program; no reg-istration is required. Light refreshments are served. This is demon-stration of steps involved in signing eBooks out of the library and copying them to an eReader.
