GET SOME FRENCH CULTURECAPITAL DISTRICT – CCI Greenheart, a non-profi t student exchange organization for 30 years, has French exchange students that have requested to come to this area for the summer. The students are part of the Independent Homestay Program. The students come for various dates and lengths of stay. The goal of the program is to have an experience with an American family. Students have their own insurance and spending money. Host families provide a place to stay and meals. Host families choose the student they would like to host. CLIFTON PARK – The Board of Trustees of the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Li-brary are seeking candidates for four library trustee posi-tions that expire on Decem-ber 31, 2015. The four trustee positions represent Clifton Park. In order to qualify, can-didates are required to be registered voters residing in the town of Clifton Park. Employees of the Library, contractors and vendors to the Library are ineligible. Residents will vote for the trustees as part of the an-nual Library Budget vote scheduled for September 17. Two positions are four-year terms, and two are five-year terms, to be determined by the number of votes for each candidate. Interested indi-viduals can obtain a nomi-nating petition at the Ask-A-Librarian Desk beginning June 1, 2015. Candidates must collect the required number of signatures as in-dicated on the petition. All petition signatures must be registered voters, residing in Clifton Park. Completed nominating petitions and accompanying question-naires must be returned to the Library by 5pm, Tuesday, August 18. The Library Board consists of 11 trustees; 7 rep-resenting Clifton Park and 4 representing Halfmoon. Trustees attend monthly board meetings, serve on assigned committees and contribute their expertise to benefit the Library and the served community. 2016 BUDGET FOR THE WATERFORD PUBLIC LIBRARY

WATERFORD – On Wednesday June 3, residents of the Water-ford-Halfmoon Union Free School District are asked to vote on the 2016 Budget for the Waterford Public Library. The 2016 budget as raised by property taxes totals $260,437.00 This equals $1.67 per $1,000 of Assessed Property Value for Waterford residents and 1.01 per $1,000 of Assessed Property Value for Half-moon residents. That is a .03/.02 cent increase over the 2015 budget. The $260,437.00 figure represents a 1.86% increase over the 2015 Budget and therefore adheres to the Tax Cap directives. Two positions on the Library Board will also be on the ballot, one partial term and one full term. Polls will be open from 9am until 7pm on June 3rd and vot-ing takes place at the Waterford Library. Copies of the 2016 budget will be available on our webpage, in the Waterford Library, and will be mailed or emailed to residents upon request. HELP FOR SCHOOL-AGE CHILDREN WHO STUT-TER

CAPITAL DISTRICT - Stuttering is a frustrating and embarrass-ing problem for millions of people, but it can be especially tough on elementary school-age children. Help is available for parents, teachers, and speech-language pathologists at most public libraries in the form of a DVD designed to help school-age children who stutter. Some libraries have an older video version. The DVD features students from first through sixth grade, some of who talk about their experiences with stuttering. They talk openly about the teasing they face from classmates and how their stuttering sometimes makes them feel about themselves. The 38-minute DVD, entitled Therapy in Action: The School-age Child Who Stutters, produced by the 67-year-old nonprofit Stuttering Foundation is available free of charge to public libraries nationwide. We search for lost people of all ages working with the NYS Police, County Sheriff, Local Police, Fire Departments, and the NYS DEC Forest Rangers. PROGRAM TO ASSIST LOW INCOME VETERANSSARATOGA CO. - Saratoga County RPC, through its VetHelp division, is pleased to announce a new program to aid veterans and their families in their struggle to maintain permanent housing. The Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program can provide monetary relief as well as extensive case management for veteran families that are homeless or at im-minent risk of becoming homeless. Temporary financial assistance is available for rental assis-tance, utilities fees, security deposit, moving costs, emergency supplies, childcare and trans-portation. Case management and referral services include health care, daily living activities, financial planning, transportation, income support and legal assistance. The goal of the SSVF program is to promote housing stability among very low income Veteran families who re-side in or are transitioning to permanent housing in the following New York State counties; Washington, Warren, Saratoga, Schenectady, Montgomery, Fulton and Schoharie. CLIFTON PARK – Members of The Chamber of Southern Saratoga County’s Women In Business Committee are reaching out to the commu-nity for help with their chari-table initiative, Backpacks of Hope, which supports moth-ers and their children utilizing the services of Domestic Violence and Rape Crisis Services of Saratoga County (DVRC). Backpacks of Hope is part of the Committee’s Baskets of Hope initia-tive, which has been providing women entering the Saratoga County Domestic Violence Shel-ter with baskets of personal care items. The backpacks and school supplies meet the needs of the children who are also affected by domestic violence. The Women in Business Com-mittee seeks donations of back-to-school supplies such as backpacks, notebooks, binders, pens, pencils, crayons, markers, glue sticks, etc. Donations of personal care items such as soap, shampoo, toothpaste and other toiletries are also welcomed year round. Anyone who wishes to participate in this worthy program can do so by bringing donations to The Chamber of Southern Saratoga County, located at 15 Park Avenue in Clifton Park (behind Shoppers World Plaza).
