Key Facts about Ebola Virus Disease (EVD)
• EVD is preventable
• Transmitted from person to person by direct contact
• Only people who are sick with EVD (i.e. have symptoms), or who
have recently died from Ebola, can transmit the virus to others
• There are currently no licensed vaccines or specific treatments for
EVD
• EVD is not spread through drinking water, eating approved food, or
being bitten by insects like mosquitoes or ticks

• USA MEDDAC Fort Drum is taking comprehensive steps to
ensure we are fully prepared should a Soldier or beneficiary
present with Ebola-like symptoms
• We are actively training and monitoring our procedures to
ensure we are in line with the latest CDC guidance
• Will ensure proper waste disposal guidelines are followed
• This is a team effort: Require all assets on installation and
local community

• We recognize that even a single case of Ebola diagnosed in
the United States raises concerns
– We are constantly working with the Army’s Ebola experts and
CDC to safeguard safety and health of our patients, staff and
community
• Conduct continued training of MEDDAC staff
• Focus on immediate action tasks
• Proper use of appropriate personal protective equipment
• Continued evaluation of appropriate infection control protocols

New RV/Boat Storage Facility
Outdoor Recreation and Department of Public Works has partnered to
establish a new facility which better supports the installation RV/Boat
storage. The new site will be graded with gravel, enhanced Physical
Security, and new gate with key-less entry issued at Outdoor
Recreation. Expected completion is late November 2014. Contact
