The year that was This is the final edition of ´Making Sense´ for 2017, thank you for your interest and feedback along the way. This year panned out almost exactly the same as the end of the boom in 2003. Strong rises and heated Auctions were a constant... and then they weren´t. It was mid- October this year as it was then when it just changed almost one week to the next. Enquiries have slowed, buyers have thinned out and Auctions are a much calmer affair. The difference is that 14 years ago, there were other economic issues at play and interest rates were considerably higher. So unless rates move upwards soon (unlikely), property price rises may yet continue, albeit at a slower rate. Prediction for 2018: Good properties will always be popular and competed for. ´Good´ = inherently good features eg views, location, parking. But overall there will be more balance which could actually lead to greater confidence to transact property. If so, more properties will come onto the market and there will be greater balance between buyers and sellers.
