SUNDAY, JANUARY 13TH BRILL CHAPEL

James 4 PRIDE AND ARROGANCE

We are told that pride is an essential element to making things better. We should have school pride and personal pride.

In the Bible, however, pride is often seen as a corrosive personality trait, something to be avoided. What the Bible means by pride (when seen negatively) is similarly to boastful arrogance (James 4:16). It can also be likened to vanity or vainglory, a distorted sense of one's value and importance in the world (Philippians 2:3).

Pride can even be related to envy, covetousness, or greed – the belief that your desires are more important than those of others (Romans 1:29).

Those to whom James wrote apparently had problems with pride; they lacked humility. Many Christians and churches today suffer the same malady, so James's words are timely and vital to us.

Nancy Zumwalt will lead us through this timely lesson. Come early to hear our own Freeta Moore bless us with her piano mastery of the hymns at 9:15am.

SHREDDING

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 23RD

10:30 AM

EPWORTH VILLA GRAND LOBBY

When you bring papers for shredding this time, you will notice a change of companies. The shredding company we have been using, Mobile Shredding, was bought out by another company and they do not make ‘house calls’. Therefore, we are changing to The Meadows for our shredding needs because they will come to us.

The Meadows shreds sensitive data for more than 3,000 customers across the state of Oklahoma. Their customers include local, state, and federal agencies; educational institutions; pharmacies, health care providers, and medical facilities; religious organizations; accounting, legal, insurance, and business professionals; and many others.

Convenience •They will bring large containers when they come. After the containers are filled they will take them back to their office in Edmond for destruction. No sorting is necessary, and you do not need to remove folders, notebooks, paper clips, or staples. Their team of workers will sort everything on-site for you. Security •All data and documents are kept in latched and locked bins until destruction. Trucks are locked securely at all times except when loading or unloading. •After paper shredding, they will issue a certification of data destruction, providing a legal audit trail and giving verification of destruction of materials. •The Meadows conducts internal security checks, with data destruction and paper shredding monitored by closed circuit security cameras. •Employees are subject to OSBI background checks and random drug testing. •Data is guaranteed not to be read, is shredded and refuse is returned to paper products. Our customers may witness data destruction by appointment.

Environmentally Friendly •After paper is shredded, it is baled into 1,300-1,500 pound bales. These bales are shipped to recycling facilities to be reduced to pulp and recycled into home paper goods. Each ton of paper we recycle saves approximately 7,000 gallons of water; 17-31 trees; 4,000 KWh of electricity; and 60 pounds of air pollutants.

As before, shredding will cost $10.00 per person. If you have anything to be shredded, please bring cash with you and be in the lobby at 10:30 am. They will only stay as long as we have residents with items to shred. No signup is necessary.

For more information on The Meadows and their shredding process, please visit

http://www.meadowsoklahoma.com/shredding.htm.

SATURDAY MATINEE MOVIE (Shown in the 2nd Floor Theater)

SATURDAY, JANUARY 12TH MATINEE @ 2:00 PM

2:00 PM

2015 45 YEARS

This is a quietly powerful drama about memory and marriage. A married couple, Kate and Geoff, preparing to celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary is rocked by the arrival of a letter bringing unsettling news of Geoff’s first love. From here the couple navigates the distance and warmth of a long-term relationship in crisis. Each pained glance, frank exchange and yearning stab at intimacy is devastating. This is a tale of rare depth and honest, often shocking, emotion.
