TRANSCRIPT
By Light of Day is an Evansville-based original Alternative Rockband with a vintage vibe.
12-string jangly guitars fuse with snarling rock guitars in a driving, unique sound reminiscent of bands such as U2, R.E.M, The Cure, and The Church, as well as heavier acts like Led Zeppelin and Van Halen.
On any given night, expect to hear about 2/3 originals penned by lead vocalist/rhythm guitarist Brian McMurtry, with the remainder curated from the band’s musical influences.

BRIAN MCMURTRY, 12-STRING GUITARS, LEAD VOCALS Brian is a veteran lifelong musician and composer originally hailing from Paducah, Kentucky. Beside his role as a rhythm guitarist and lead vocalist, he also plays keyboards, bass guitar, and trombone. As the principal songwriter for the group, his side hobby is recording these compositions in his home studio.
JOSIAH MITCHELL, LEAD GUITAR Josiah is a lifelong native of the Evansville area and has been playing guitar since 2008. Eddie Van Halen is his biggest musical influence, but he enjoys a variety of music, especially from the 70s and 80s. Fun fact: Josiah is double-jointed in all 10 of his fingers-although this does not provide an advantage with playing guitar!
STEVE HAYNES, BASS GUITAR Steve has developed his bass skills by also playing with The Between the Frets band, continually exposing himself to a variety of musical styles. He also works to design, repair, and construct amplifiers and speaker cabinets for local artists.
DAVE MATTHEWS, DRUMS AND VOCALS Dave is an Evansville native, having played with The Duke Boys since 1985 and The Brown Sisters since 2011. Dave has filled in for several bands such as The Van Dells and The Jimmies.
