1. Protect your work area, prepare your materials and make sure you have glue, glue brushes and paint brushes on hand.

2. Begin by giving your hot air balloon a coat of white paint, leaving the basket plain. Allow to dry. This is not essential but provides a good base for painting.

3. Paint your hot air balloon in bright colours, leaving the basket plain. Allow to dry. Look to our hot air balloon designs above for inspiration or come up with your own.

4. Cut small triangles and half circles from cover paper to use as bunting for your hot air balloon. Attach with glue.

5. To create detail on your basket use white paint to draw small white lines. Allow to dry. Go over these with a brown marker.

1. Using the tools in the pottery tool kit, break off a large piece of clay and roll it into a ball. Mould the ball into aflatovalshape.Thinkaboutthesizeofthepebblesyouareusingwhenmakingyourovalshape.

2. Push the pebbles into the clay spelling out the words ‘Dad rocks’.

3. Sit the clay aside to dry for at least 48 hours. Rotate the clay every few hours to ensure it dries completely.

1. Using the circumference of your mug as a guide cut a piece of felt 12cm high and long enough to wrap around the middle of your mug.

2. Fold the felt in half so it becomes 6cm high.

3. Cut a long length of yarn and thread a needle.

4. Stitch around the edge of the folded piece of felt using a blanket stitch. For step by step instructions on blanket stitching see the Tips & Techniques activity sheet ‘How to Hand Sew’.

5. Stitch the word ‘DAD’ onto the front of the felt using a back stitch. For step by step instructions on back stitching see the Tips & Techniques activity sheet ‘How to Hand Sew’.

6. Attach a hook and an eye clever dot to each end of the cup cosy.

7. Wrap the cosy around a mug and give to Dad for Father’s Day!

2. Carefully cut out the tie shape and glue it to your paper bag.

1. Trace your paper bag onto the back of a piece of craftpaper.Usethisasasizeguideanddrawa bow tie shape inside the rectangle.

2. Carefully cut out the bow tie shape and glue it to your paper bag.

3. Decorate the front of your bag with buttons. Attach with glue.

Materials: How To:

1. Glue craft paper to 5 paper ties. Trim the excess paper from around your ties and re-punch the holes at the top of each tie.

2. Cut a long length of yarn and thread it through your ties, joining them together to create a garland.

3. Usingatieasasizeguide,drawlettersspelling‘DAD’oncolouredpaper. Carefully cut them out. Attach each letter to the 3 middle ties with glue.

4. Decorateyourtieswithbuttons.Attachwithglue.Layyourtiesflatwhile the glue is drying to ensure the buttons don’t slide down your ties.

5. Hang your tie bunting up to surprise Dad on Father’s Day!

1. Assemble your 3D remote holder before decorating to ensure easy construction. For permanent assembly you will need to glue the pieces together.

2. Begin by giving your remote holder a coat of white paint. Allow to dry. This is not essential but provides a good base for painting.

3. Paint your remote holder in bright colours. Allow to dry.

4. Apply a coat of glitter paint to add a touch of sparkle. Allow to dry.

5. Once your remote holder is completely dry, use a marker to draw detail on your car.

3D Wooden Remote Holder


1. Give your crown a coat of brightly coloured paint. Allow to dry.

2. Paint your crown with glitter paint to add a touch of sparkle. Allow to dry.

3. Write a Father’s Day message on the front of your crown with a pen. e.g. ‘King for a Day!’ or ‘King Dad’.

4. Join the 2 ends of your crown together with tape. Remember Dad’s head is bigger than your head!

5. Decorate your crown with buttons and rhinestones. Attach with glue and allow to dry before wearing.

Father’s Day Crown

Materials: How To:


• To decorate our Ceramic Money Boxes we used both CleverPatch™ Junior Artist Paint and CleverPatch™ Ceramic & Terracotta Markers.

Using CleverPatch™ Junior Artist Paint:

1. Use paint to cover large areas of your money box.

2. To make Dad’s face, paint the entire money box with a skin tone colour. Create a skin tone colour by mixing white paint with a small amount of brown. Allow to dry.

3. To make a football, paint the entire money box brown. Paint with crosshatching brush strokes to create a textured effect. Allow to dry.

Using CleverPatch™ Ceramic & Terracotta Markers:

1. UsemarkerstodrawonfinerdetailslikeDad’sglasses,moustache and eyebrows.

2. Shake your markers well before use.

3. Pressthetipofyourmarkergently&repeatedlytostarttheinkflow.Dothis on some scrap paper, you may need to repeat this step each time youuseyourmarkerstogettheinkflowing!

4. Think about what you want to draw on your money box. If you are unsure,trydrawingadesignonpaperfirst,thencopyontoyourmoneybox with your markers.

5. Allow your design to dry for a minimum of 24 hours.

6. Storeceramic&terracottamarkershorizontally(flat).

7. Always replace the cap immediately after using, even if you are just taking a short break. This will stop the ink from drying out.
