To our Clergy Travelers: The goal of our time in Israel is to experience as much of the

land, the sites, the beauty, and the biblical story as possible. I will help our traveling clergy familiarize themselves with this incredible country and build an itinerary for their own groups. The planned itin-erary below is only a sampling of what we will see; we will see so much more. Our experience to-gether will become the benchmark for trips that you can lead for the rest of your ministry. My wife and I invite you to join us

for an incredible excursion of biblical teaching, living faith, joyous wonder, and deep personal renewal. Please read the outline of our time and itinerary here. If you feel a call to come explore, grow, and learn with us, please email me at [email protected]. We are eager to hear from you and get our group ready to go. I hope you will join us! David+ DAY 01 – MONDAY, JANUARY 27: DEPART USA Our trip begins at your nearest airport. Our fellow clergy and spouses are coming from all over North America and we will meet together at our departure gateway city. Details of our airline, departure times and departure gateway city will be made months in advance. Day 2 – TUESDAY, JANUARY 28: ARRIVE TEL AVIV, DEAD SEA We arrive at Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion airport in the afternoon. We will be met there by our guide, retrieve our luggage, and get on board a comfortable late-model bus. Our first stop will be to the south, the Dead Sea, the lowest place on earth. We will overnight in Ein Bokek, a resort area along the shore. We will have dinner together and a restful night’s sleep. Our jour-ney into the Scriptures has begun.

Day 3 – WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 29: DEAD SEA, MASADA, EN GEDI, QUMRAN, JORDAN VALLEY, KASSER EL YAHUD, SEA OF GALILEE , and MORE We can begin the morning with a swim/float in the Dead Sea. (It’s incredible!) Then we will head forward into history today with a fascinating tour of Masada, Herod the Greats’ impres-sive mountain fortress where Jewish zealots made their last stand against their Roman conquerors. Then to the north, we visit the oasis and springs of En Gedi, David’s hiding place from Saul. We will travel on to Qumran, where we will see the caves where the famous Dead Sea Scrolls were discov-ered. We will walk the ruins of the 2000 year old Essene com-munity. Our next stop is the newly opened site at Kasser-El-Yahud, authentic place of the Baptism of our Lord and John’s ministry. We will make our way north into the Galilee and overnight on the Sea of Tiberias. We will stay for three nights. DAY 4 – THURSDAY, JANUARY 30: GALILEE, TABGHA, MT. OF BEATITUDES, CAPERNAUM, BOAT RIDE, NAZARETH, CANA and MORE We are up early, but there is nothing like watching a sunrise on the Sea of Galilee. After breakfast, we make our way to Tabgha, the Primacy of Peter, and the Mt. of Beatitudes with time for reflection, prayer and teaching all along the way. Capernaum is next, right on the Sea of Galilee. We continue with a visit to Cana, Nazareth and the several churches and sites to be seen there. It is an incredible day where the teach-ing ministry of Jesus and his humanity are brought into focus. We have much to see and do in this region. Jesus probably worked at the city of Sepphoris as he was growing up. We will be there. We will visit the top of Mt. Tabor, the traditional site of the Transfiguration. We will go back to our hotel at Tiberias, have dinner and overnight. DAY 5 – FRIDAY, JANUARY 31: BEIT SHEAN, GOLAN HEIGHTS, CAESAREA PHILIPPI, TEL DAN and MORE The next morning, we drive to Tel Beit Shean, where the bod-ies of King Saul and his sons were hung from the city walls (1 Samuel 31:10-12) after they were defeated by the Philistines. We travel north toward the Golan Heights and view the Gali-lee from a spectacular lookout seldom seen by tourists. We drive north to Caesarea Philippi. We will have a short hike/walk to Tel Dan where we will see the altar of Jeroboam. Then it is back to Tiberias for our dinner and last night in the Gali-lee.

DAY 6 – SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 1: MEGIDDO, MT. CARMEL, CAESAREA MARITIMA, JERUSALEM and MORE This morning we leave the Galilee by way of the ancient, Via Maris, the Way of the Sea. A short drive takes us to Tel Me-giddo, and then we make our way for Mt. Carmel where Eli-jah prayed and God defeated 450 prophets of Baal. Then we’ll travel south along the coastal highway to the aqueducts and incredibly beautiful ancient city of Caesarea Maritima. We will spend ample time there reading and studying the text in Acts where Peter proclaimed the Good News to the Roman Centurion and where Paul made his defense before Agrippa (Acts 10; Acts 25). We’ll then make our way to the majestic city of Jerusalem in time for dinner and overnight. DAY 7 – SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 2: MT. OF OLIVES, PALM SUNDAY ROAD, GARDEN OF GETHSEMANE, MT. ZION GATE, JEWISH QUARTER, TEMPLE MOUNT, SOUTHERN STEPS, BETHLEHEM, and MORE We begin our explorations of the Holy City with a drive to the beautiful Mt. of Olives to behold the breathtaking panorama of the walled City of Jerusalem. It is majestic in every way. Our pilgrimage will continue along the Palm Sunday Road be-ginning at Bethphage and continuing to the Garden of Geth-semane with its ancient olive groves. We will have a special Eucharist this day in a beautiful, private setting near the Gar-den of Gethsemane and the Church of the Agony (Church of All Nations). We will enter Jerusalem through the Zion Gate and walk to the holiest site in the entire Jewish world, the Western Wall (Wailing Wall) of Herod's temple. Beyond the wall lies the 37 acre temple area bought by King David (2 Sam. 24:18-25). On this site now stands the iconic, magnificent Dome of the Rock (the third holiest shrine in all Islam) and the El-Aksa Mosque. From the temple area, we walk to St. Stephen’s Gate, St. Anne’s Church, the Pools of Bethesda, and the Ecce Homo Arch where Pilate stood and condemned Jesus to death. It is an incredible experience to be at the site of His public flogging and humiliation. We’ll then walk up the traditional path of the Stations of the Cross and end our jour-ney through the Holy City at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. In the late afternoon, we go to Bethlehem and visit the Church of the Nativity and St. Jerome’s Cave. We will walk up the ancient man-made mountain of the Herodian and de-scend through the tunnels and cisterns of this interesting pal-ace. We will have dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.

DAY 8 - MONDAY, FEBRUARY 3: ISRAELI MUSEUM, THE SHRINE OF THE BOOK, MODEL CITY, HEZEKIAH’S TUNNEL, ST. PETER GALLICANTU, and MORE After breakfast we continue to the Israeli Museum where we will see a fascinating scale model of Jerusalem at the time of Jesus. We will be at the Shrine of the Book, where the Dead Sea Scrolls are displayed. We will go back to the Old City again and spend time in the archeological excavations along the ancient temple steps. We will take a breathtaking tour of the Western Wall through newly made tunnels. The beauty of the city, the complexity of the site, and the achievements of the ancient builders will make for an unforgettable day. We will stop at St. Peter Gallicantu and the ancient Roman steps outside Caiaphas house. We are certainly walking in the steps of Jesus. We will have dinner and overnight in Jerusalem. DAY 9 - TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 4: ELAH VALLEY, JAFFA, and MORE This morning is without a planned program. Yet, there is still so much to see. We might organize a special return visit to sites that might have impressed us. Some can make their way into the iconic quarters for shopping and discovery. We can also spend time in the desert, overlooking the Wadi Qelt and the ancient Jericho Road of the Good Samaritan. We can stop, overlooking St. George’s Monastery for a closing wor-ship, Eucharist, and final prayer and reflection. This is a spe-cial place of vast and stark beauty...the Judean Wilderness where Jesus was tempted. If we make this trek, on our way down to Tel Aviv, we may have an opportunity to stop and walk in the Brook of Elijah and see the same stones used dur-ing David's defeat of Goliath. Whatever we decide to do, we'll end our day in Jaffa for a closing dinner and late evening transfer to Ben Gurion Airport for our flight to U.S.A. DAY 10 – WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 5: RETURN FLIGHT We return to the North America in the afternoon, with won-derful memories of our pilgrimage to His land. Along the way back, I will work with each of your to assess and develop your own plan to bring others on such a trip. Ours will be an unfor-gettable time of wonder and personal renewal. The entire trip will leave you full beyond your expectations, and will al-ways leave you wanting to return.
