Cleethorpes Town has come a long way in its relatively short history. Initially formed in 1998 as Lincolnshire Soccer School, it was the brainchild of former Grimsby Town player Tommy Watson. The team was an immediate success with both boys and girls across every age group and the club began to grow quickly.

In 2003, the club set up a flagship senior team. In the team's first season within the Lincolnshire League they secured a credible fourth place finish for which the foundations for the future were set. Now rebranded Cleethorpes Town, the club has redeveloped into an important community outlet. With almost 30 teams competing at every level of local and regional football, the Owls are one of the largest clubs in the area and still continues to expand in all areas. The excellent array of teams and high quality coaching saw the club awarded with Football Association Charter Standard Community Club Status thus further underlining the clubs commitment to providing high quality football coaching alongside enjoyment for youngsters.

The development and evolution of Cleethorpes Town Football Club has been spearheaded by the first team. With the arrival of a new manager during the 2010-11 season it saw the club who were languishing in the lower echelons of the Sills and Betteridge Lincolnshire League go on to finish the season in an amazing third place finish. In addition, the club collected the Supplementary Cup by defeating Heckington United in the final at Sincil Bank. 2011-12 season saw us not only become champions of the Lincs League but also the Challenge Cup winners. Additionally the club was accepted into the NCEL. Our first season in the league saw us finish fourth in the table with some impressive victories along the way. It was a steep learning curve for the players, management and staff.

The 2013-14 started with a change of management and Marcus Newell was brought in. The season started off at a medium pace but a long unbeaten streak mean the Owls were top of the league at christmas. However, we had a slow slow to the new year and fell 7 points behind with only a handful of games remaining. With the pressure at its highest, others around us felt it most and we managed to secure the title with one game to go.

The club is determined to make further strides to improve and fulfil their immediate ambition of becoming North East Lincolnshire's most successful lower league football club.

it through the narrowest of gaps past the sprawling Liversedge keeper.

However, the lead was short lived, a ball was played over the top of the Owls defence and it was latched onto by Andrew Wood who had the easiest of tasks of squaring the ball to Corley who smashed the ball home into the empty net.

Both sides had one further chance before the half-time whistle. Firstly, the hosts came close when Corley, fresh from his first goal of the season tried an ambitious overhead kick which fell straight into the arms of Beattie. The Owls’ chance came one minute in stoppage time when Louis Grant played a diagonal ball into the path of Oglesby, however he volleyed straight at the keeper and the shot rebounded out of play.

The half-time whistle was blown moments later, and it ended what was an entertaining end-to-end half in the Owls first ever NCEL Premier Division tie.With no changes at the break, the game was restarted by the hosts who were now playing from left to right.

Both sides started the half brightly but it was the visitors who had the first notable attempt on goal. Oglesby make a good run down the wing, his pass was dummied by Grant and reached Cooper but he snatched his shot and it went over the bar.

This miss was immaterial as in the 53rd minute the ball was in the back of the net. Cooper sweetly struck home a free-kick from 22 yards out after Grant was hacked down by a Liversedge defender. The ball flew through the wall and into the net leaving the keeper with no chance.

The lead should have been extend some seven minutes later but Grant had left his shooting boots on the team bus as he shot wide of the mark with only the keeper to beat after being played in by McFarland.

The pressure kept mounting and it was Matthew Coleman, finding himself in an unfamiliar position to completely miss the ball with an open goal gaping. Oglesby produced a wonderful cross from the right which was missed by Cooper, the ball bounced once but Coleman’s outstretched leg could not meet the ball as it trickled out of play for a goal kick.

It was from an unfamiliar source that the Owls fourth goal was from. Captain Hanslip, scorer of only two goals during the 2013/14 campaign, produced a delightful volley after being too strong for his marker inside the box.

Despite going even further behind, Liversedge did not give up hope and would of equalised had i t not been for the brilliance of Beattie. His one handed save from Grogan was simple stunning.

They kept searching for a way back into the game and would have had it not been for the width of the post. Corley held off a McFarland challenge inside the box and he unleashed a rasping shot which beat Beattie all ends up but saw his shot ping off the inside of the woodwork and away from the goal mouth.

The frustration was evident as less than a minute later, the Owls netted for the fifth time. Oglesby was on hand to tap home a Robertson low cross, which was missed by two Liversedge defenders. As the game was reaching its conclusion, the hosts began to lose their cool. Firstly, two Liversedge players where booked for ‘off the ball’ incidences, then Joel Farrer was sent off for a second bookable offence. Cooper took the resultant free kick as the clock ticked over into injury time. The striker side

footed the ball past the keeper who had no chance. Cooper had completed his hat-trick, his second in the space of seven days.

The final whistle came moments after the restart which sparked huge celebrations as the Owls won their first game of the season and went second in the table.

Cleethorpes Town were rampant on Saturday as they defeat Liversedge 6-2 in their first NCEL Premier Division tie. Marc Cooper bagged a hat-trick, and Alex Flett, Captain Darren Hanslip and Jonathan Oglesby also got their names on the score sheet for the Owls. Scott Driscoll and Kieran Corley also made their mark in the first half but it was in vein as the Owls never looked like losing this entertaining tie.

The Owls started with a similar line-up to there 6-1 hammering of Skegness Town the previous Saturday. Liversedge also fielded a strong side, with them making only 1 change from their midweek loss to Harrogate Railway.

The sun was beaming down on Clayborn Ground as at precisely 3:00pm, the NCEL Premier Division season began as the Owls kicked off.

Within the first 60 seconds of the Owls inaugural season in the Premier D iv i s ion, i t was near d i saster. Liversedge’s Driscoll managed to sneak into the box unnoticed, the ball was

squared to him, however as the open goal was at h i s m e r c y h e stroked the ball towards the back of the net only for Richard Peck to r a ce ba ck a n d clear off the line.

Th i s near mi s s gave the hosts more impetuous as t h e y w e n t i n s e a r c h o f t h e opening goal. Billy Gordon, making h i s f i r s t appearance of the s e a s o n f o r Liversedge headed n a r r o w l y w i d e

from just five yards out.

The Owls were not satisfied with being penned inside their own half and broke forward quickly with just three minutes on the clock. The ball ran away from Cooper but he charged it down and the ball fell kindly to the 26 year old who only had the keeper to beat and drilled the ball to the keepers right into the back of the net. This was the Owls first ever NCEL Premier Division goal and also Coopers first of the season.

The game seemed to settle down after the opening frantic few minutes with neither side creating any chances for the next nine minutes. It was then in the 12th minute that the hosts should of equalised when Driscoll’s shot from close range was heading goal bound only for right-back Luke Mascall to clear off the line.

Pressure was mounting and it was Mascall once again at the rescue only 60 seconds later as he had to usher the ball out of play after Driscoll was all over the back of the left-back.

Some three minutes later a flowing move by the Owls nearly resulted in a goal. The ball was collected by Cooper 25 yards out; it was then played out wide to Brody Robertson who laid it in Mascall’s path but he angled shot was deflected just wide of the mark.

From the corner, centre-back Matthew Coleman rose the highest but his bullet header was just inches wide of the mark. Liversedge’s Corley, in the 25th minute collected the ball 30 yards out and made a darting run inside the box where Lee McFarland upended the striker and the referee had no choice but to award a penalty to the hosts. It was the responsibility of Driscoll who drove the ball hard and low past Brad Beattie who dived the wrong way sending the home fans into ecstasy.

It was a double blow for the Owls, not only conceding the goal but also Mascall was forced off for an injury sus ta ined moments before the equaliser. Danny Grant replaced Mascall in a like-for-like replacement.

With both sides pushing forward looking to take the lead it was inevitable that further goals would precede before the break. With just 10 minutes of the half remaining, the Owls took the lead once more. Robertson took the ball past one static Liversedge defender, pulled it back into the path of Flett who hooked

GOOD evening and welcome back to The Bradley Community Stadium for the visit of Albion Sports in our first NCEL Premier Division match...

Good evening everyone and welcome back to The Bradley FDC for the start of another chapter in the history of this great club.

It only seems like yesterday since we clinched the NCEL Division one title, but after a very busy close season here we are again ready to start life in NCEL Premier Division.We know this is going to be a very tough season, playing against very good sides week in week out, but I know Marcus will have the lads very well prepared and rearing to go.

Our first home fixture we welcome Albion Sports from Bradford. They are no strangers to us, having played them a couple of times previously. They are very well organised and this

will show the standards we will have to meet on a weekly basis to compete at this level.

Our pre season has gone well and having spoken to Marcus he is confident he has the players at his disposal to compete in the premier division. Most of the lads that won us the title have resigned with one or two new faces adding to the squad. I am sure they will do the club proud as they have for the last four seasons.

I was interviewed by the Cleethorpes Chronicle and one of the questions I was asked was ‘what are my ambitions for the club’ Firstly I would like us to return to our ‘Home’ at the Linden Club, and

secondly I want to see us in the evostik league.

The first part is well underway and plans are in for the stadium to be built. The second part we are only one step off so all in all I don’t think we have done to bad.

I hope you all enjoy this evening’s game and look forward to welcoming you back over the season. Your support is invaluable and I know the lads enjoy playing in front of a good size crowd.

Saturdays win against Liversedge in our first ever NCEL Premier Division match was great. It was important to get some points on the board and to be up and running.

We started the game slowly and was a little apprehensive and that is something we need to address. However, that is natural for the lads as its a new league and many of the sides we have not faced before.

We identified last season we was not fit enough at the start of the season and the lads have worked hard with us to address this. We do need to improve on our game management but that will come as the lads age and learn this with games.

We have a very young squad and we as a management team are pleased with the attitude and desire. Our boys showed this on Saturday but one game will not make our season, hard work and attitude will.

We need to stick with it and stay together as a squad and results will come.

Now we move onto tonight where we face Albion Sports. They set

the standards we want to get to after promotion from Division 1 to finish 6th, which is incredible. We need to look at them as a target. As I have said before we are the new kids on the block so need to work harder than anyone else to get to were we want to be.

For us it’s all about our side, we control the controllable and make us the best we can be and not worry about the opposition. At our level we don’t have scouting reports or a great deal of informat ion on upcoming

opponents so we concentrate on the Clee Town and our players the best we can.

After a short break from football during the summer al the first team, reserve and ‘A’ team are looking forward to a very successful season at all three levels with the help we get from the committee and volunteers around the club.

Cleethorpes Town A first ever game occurred on Saturday against a very s t r o n g I m m i n g h a m Bluestone FC side who for t w o s e a s o n s w e r e Champions of the East Lincs Combination Division One.

The game was played at Bradley FDC on the 3G pitch. There was some familiar faces from the A & G Auto Repairs FC team of last season including Matt Donson, Tom Wingate, Mark Smith, Dale Pratt, Andy Allott, Cameron Donson and a 45 minute cameo from joint manager Andy Cawte due to an injury.

S a m W i l l e t t , M a t t h e w R u s s e l l and Ollie K i r t o n m a d e impressive d e b u t s from the Under 18's side as did n e w s i g n i n g T o m Furnell. The first ha l f was played at

a very quick pace with both teams keeping the ball on the deck and playing some good football.

Despite this the Owls went in at half time 3-1 down with two of the goals just down to errors.

The Owls reply was courtesy of Ollie Kirton after some great work from strike partner Cameron Donson.

Tom Furnell was unlucky with a couple of 25/30 yard efforts with one shot in particular rattling the cross b a r. T h e I m m i n g h a m Bluestone Keeper also made a couple of saves to boot

k e e p e r t h e v i s i t o r s advantage going into the break.

The second half restarted with Andy Cawte coming on in the midfield for the Sam Willett who picked up a knock. The second half was same story as the first with the Owls creating a few chances and one on ones with the keeper coming out on top.

Cam Donson was unlucky not to have won a penalty when he appeared to be caught from behind when in the penalty area but it wasn't given by the referee.

Andy Allott managed to score a second as the Owls pushed to get back in the game.

Gary Nimmos side came through in the end to win 3-2 in which was a good exercise for both teams.

The Owls would like too wish Immingham Bluestone the best for the forthcoming season.

Albion Sports Football Club was founded in 1974 and initially played in the Bradford Amateur Sunday League.

After a brief spell in the lower divisions, gaining promotions on a regular basis and winning the Amateur District and Senior cups along the way, Albion Sports in 1995/96 won the Premier league title for the first time, this was to prove the catalyst for what was to come.

Albion Sports won a further five league titles, two County Cups, three District Cups and seven Senior Cups. Other highlights included reaching the final of the National F.A Umbro Sunday Cup on two occasions. The first in 2000 at the City Ground (Nottingham Forest) Albion Sports were beaten 1 -0 by Prestige Brighams (Hull). The second

in 2005 at Anfield (Liverpool F.C), this time beaten 3 -2 by Gossoms End (London).

Albion Sports have been honored by receiving three civic receptions from the City of Bradford as well as winning an award of ‘Ambassadors of West Yorkshire’ beating the likes of Patrick Stewart (Star Trek actor) and the late R i c h a r d W h i t l e y ( C o u n t d o w n presenter) into 2nd and 3rd place respectively. Albion Sports resigned from Sunday football in 2007 in order to progress up through the Football Association pyramid.

In 2007/08 Albion Sports joined the Telegraph and Argus league and won promotion in the first season as well as winning the League Cup. Albion Sports F.C were elected to the WRCAFC in 2008, gained promotion in

the first season and also won the District Cup. In 2009/10 Albion Sports finished runners-up in the Premiership and won the Divisional Cup. In 2010/11 they again finished runners-up and were then successfully elected to join the NCEL 2011/12 season.

Albion Sports missed out on promotion by a solitary point in their debut season but quickly rectified this the following season (2012/13) by gaining promotion to the Premier division as Champions. Albion Sports finished in a very creditable 6th place in their debut p remier League season (2013/14).

You were a regular player two seasons ago under Andy Liddell, but due to work commitments you had to cut your footballing back, do you see yourself becoming a regular once again?It's been a while since I have played but realising this has made me want to play more, I don't have many years left in me so need to work hard and put in the effort and score the goals with the vast amount of talent in the squad!

How will working monday to friday effect your training regime and overall fitness as you look to get back to playing regularly?Working Monday-Friday is a dream... I can make training all week and go to the gym on nights when I am not training.

So, take me back to the beginning, how did you first get into football?I started playing I think age 9-10 and it was for west marsh juniors! We weren't a bad little side but just loved to play my football day in day out be it a field or a street!

You joined CTFC in 2011 from Grimsby Borough, how was the transition between the clubs?Joining back up with Andy from playing at Seven Seas was great he works you hard and gets the best out of players a very good motivator and man manager! Everything was 100% more organised and run smoother from the players to the coaches to the back room you couldn't get more opposites!

Who did you make your debut against for The Owls and how did you find it?My debut was at home Lucarlys at the time against Boston Utd in a 1-1 draw and got the goal then!! Was great to play we had a hard working side and all friends that played at Seven Seas or the Grimsby Town Academy!

You love playing up front, do you prefer to play alone, with a partner or in a 4-3-3 formation? Which style suits your play?

Either as a two or a three! I'm an off the shoulder in behind player so having someone to win flick ons or hold the ball up is a dream! In a 3 is good also as I like to drift wide and cut in and make late runs into the box!

Even though you only played 3 times during the campaign, winning the league must of been great, tell me about the emotions you went through?Yeah last year I wasn't really around with work but to win the league what an achievement!!! The club have strived on and on and am sure can do it again! The lads worked very hard as did the back room and really paid off it's not only great for the club but for the area, just shows how much talent this town really does have at this level of football!

Marcus has had a successful time as the 'gaffer', why do you think this is?Marcus has played the game so he knows the game and know how it works! He knows his players and what motivates each one of us in different ways. Having someone like Marcus helps the club as he looks to the youth to get players and develop them if they are good enough they will get a chance to prove themselves!

What can we expect from The Owls this season, mid-table? Top 6? Promotion?So this season is yet again another step up I've played at this level and in all honestly not much difference than the league we have just won so I see top 6 as a real achievable goal if we can do exactly what we did last year why not?

Lastly, tell me about your favourite goal for the Owls and your favourite game you have played in?Favourite game for the owls has to be the 4-0 away at Skegness Utd in the lincs league!! Top two teams and we went and destroyed them and I picked up all four goals so by far best game I've had in the owl shirt!! As for the best goal I’m really not to sure, maybe the cup final against Hykeham. I run half of the pitch to bend it around the keeper at Lincoln City’s ground! It was great goal and set us on for victory!
