The Clearwater County Demolition Landfill is open to the public for the disposal of solid wastes resulting from the demolition or construction of buildings, roads and other man-made structures. The landfill also accepts other materials prohibited from disposal in the rural canister system. These include old appliances, mattresses, tires, scrap metal, oil filters, flu- orescent bulbs, trees and compost materials. You may visit the Envi- ronmental Services website at www.co.clearwater.mn.us or call (218)-694 -6183 with questions regarding acceptable and non-acceptable mate- rials at the demolition landfill. Bypass Two containers are located within the landfill for items that can’t be disposed of in the rural canisters or elsewhere in the landfill. They accept furniture, mattresses, computers, other electronics, large plastic items such as toys and many other materials. TV’s and monitors are taken at the gate for a fee. Burn Pile Logs, branches, roots, and yard wastes that won’t readily compost may be disposed of in the burn pile. Wood furni- ture, animal byproducts, buildings and associated materials are prohibited in the burn pile. Scrap Metal Disposal of scrap metal is free of charge if it originates within Clearwater County. White Goods Acceptable white goods include refrigerators, freezers, dish- washers, electric and gas range ovens, water heaters, fuel oil and gas furnaces, and air conditioners. There is a fee for each individual item to be disposed of. Demolition Trench The demolition trench accepts materials associated with the construction or demolition of structures. These include materials from new home construction or remodeling, old home demolition, sheds, garages, barns, etc. Buildings primarily constructed of metal such as pole sheds and mobile homes must be dismantled and stripped of the metal sheeting before being demolished for placement in the landfill. Things that are not accepted in the demo- lition trench include household garbage, loose met- als, packaging materials from construction (i.e. caulking tubes, shingle wrappers, etc.), and treated lumber. A complete list of acceptable and non- acceptable materials is available on the back of this flyer.
