The ClearShield System

… What is it?

The first system for …

The conversion of ordinary glass into Low-M

(Low-Maintenance),

‘Non-Stick’, easy to clean glass

Renovation, Protection and Maintenance.

The ClearShield System

… What does it do?

It helps new and existing glass to keep its promise of

performance through …

The properties of glass

surface

The surface of weathered glass at high magnification

1. The surface of glass is not smooth

2. Glass is a reactive material

Page 8: ClearShield Low-M Protect

- becomes part of the glass through a strong chemical bond (covalent linkages)

The ClearShield conversion of the surface of the glass

ClearShield is a polymeric resin sprayed onto the glass surface that:

The application creates a new, higher quality of glass, whose surface is now chemically inert.

The ClearShield Protection

- follows the contours of the glass and forms a very thin (<1μ thick), multi-molecular protective layer thanks to

its unique cross-linking property

Page 9: ClearShield Low-M Protect

The surface of ClearShield ‘Low-M’ Glass is more resistant to corrosion from water vapour, and because chemically inert, it is ‘non-stick’. This means that:

- when they do deposit onto its surface, they no longer chemically react with it, and are easier to remove

- less dirt and other contaminants stick to its surface

- the absence of dirt and other contaminants prevents staining and discolouration

ClearShieldprotects glass against a strong physical and chemical adherence of contaminants

The ClearShield Protection

Page 10: ClearShield Low-M Protect

For all types of exterior and interior glass,

ClearShield:

– resists staining and discolouration

– is always easier to clean and keep clean

– typically halves frequency of cleaning

Before, during and after construction

Glass Shower Enclosures

– resists limescale build-up and is always easier to clean and keep clean

– prevents bacterial growth for a more hygienic environment

– typically halves frequency of cleaning

The panel on the right has been treated to provide excellent protection to glass which will reduce the amount of cleaning required and help improve safety and visibility.

The slide demonstrates the ‘non-stick’ “Low M” characteristics so that despite the rain and jet wash from the aeroplanes visibility and safety are improved considerably and the glass is successfully maintained at lower cost.

This Heathrow control tower has benefited from the Low M protection for over 10 years.
