Viruses

• Computer viruses are easily transmitted on a floppy disk without the user even knowing it.

• For this reason, do not allow students to bring diskettes from home to load files onto your computer.

How to care for your computer

• Always place your laptop on a level surface.• Wash your hands before using the

computer.• Fluids are the number one enemy of

electronic items so it is best not to eat or drink while working on the laptop.

• If liquid spills on the keyboard, turn the keyboard upside down to drain for at least 12 hours before powering on again.

• Never allow anyone else to use your school laptop.

How to care for your computer

• Never put personal data or programs that can’t be easily recovered on your laptop.– Your laptop may, someday, unexpectedly

require service. Your personal data will not be protected if this happens and you could lose your data.

• Don’t save passwords on your laptop.– Use a password that is easy for you to

remember (but not easy for someone else to guess).

The Proper Way to Clean Your Laptop Computer

• Clean the exterior by simply wiping it off with a damp, soft cloth.

• Dust off the screen using a dry, lint-free, soft cloth. Pressing too hard on the screen will cause damage - so be easy.

• Do not use cleaning agents to clean your laptop!
