Factory Mutual is an independent testing agency whose approvals are based on Standard 6921 Combustible Waste Containers. Standard 6921 is performance criteria for containers with covers (lids) and their ability to withstand internal fires, maintain a certain range of stability, if dumped, and stay intact over a wide temperature range. Standard 6920 is performance criteria for Oily Waste Containers.

Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points is a systematic method using principles (Food Hygiene Practices) for analyzing a food process and determining the possible chemical, physical, and biological hazards within that process that should prevent any unsafe food from leaving the process (this process could be for a food processing plant or food preparation in a restaurant). The seven principles are: 1. Application, 2. HACCP Plan Validation, 3. Quality Manual Review, 4. On-site Readiness Review, 5. Registration Audit, 6. Registration, and, 7. Surveillance

Underwriters Laboratory. The UL Classified baskets (FG254000, FG254100, FG254200, FG254300, FG254400) meet the criteria for UL Standard 242 which is a standard of performance for open top, non-metallic wastepaper containers. UL classified baskets are generally found in use in patient care rooms (hospitals/nursing homes).

Decorative Waste products that are UL Classified have been tested and approved only to burning paper containment and resistance to temperature rise of surrounding surfaces.

Decorative Waste products that are UL Listed / FM Approved/Fire-Safe/Self-Extinguishing have been tested and approved for the fire-safe containment of dry flammable paper waste products.

California State Fire Marshal listing is obtained for various types of containers once tested (by independent testing laboratories) against specific criteria. Following our receipt of UL and/or FM approval for those items, the results were submitted/accepted by California. The State of California is generally regarded to have the most stringent fire codes of all the United States. For an annual fee (every June 30th) the CSFM listings are updated. Decorative Waste products that are UL Listed/FM Approved Fire-Safe/ Self-Extinguishing and UL Classified are listed by the California State Fire Marshal pursuant to section 13144.1 of the California Health and Safety Code.

NSF Registration Guidelines for Proprietary Substances and Nonfood Compounds:Handwashing and sanitizing products (CategoryCode E2):

Combination of detergents-germicides (single step preparations designed to combine hand washing and sanitizing) will be considered for registration on the basis of their ability to effectively clean the hands as well as their germicidal equivalency to 50 ppm available chlorine. The hands need not be washed with soap or detergent prior to the use of such preparations. However, the hands must be rinsed with potable water after the use of the product and before handling food.

Hand sanitizing products (Category Code E3):

Products manufactured from those solutions described in CFR Title 21, Section 178.1010, which are applicable for the purpose may be used to sanitize the hands of employees handling food products without a subsequent rinse provided they are germicidally equivalent to 50 ppm available chlorine. Products shall not contain perfumes leaving a residual odour on hands after usage. These sanitizing solutions may be used only after thoroughly washing hands with soap or detergent and water, followed by rinsing with potable water. In many instances, these hand sanitizers may be injected directly into wash/rinse water.

ASTM F-404-08 is an American Society for Testing and Materials’ safety standard for evaluating a High Chair. A “test dummy” that simulates a child of predetermined size is strapped into the chair and various push, pulls, and racking tests are conducted on the chair and also using the dummy to simulate forces required to remove dummy, and to determine the safety aspects of ensuring proper confinement within the chair without causing harm to the child.

ASTM F-2285-04 is an American Society for Testing and Materials’ safety performance specification that establishes performance requirements, test methods, and labeling requirements to minimize the hazards to children presented by Diaper Changing Tables for commercial use with children up to 50 lbs.

ASTM 615 is an American Society for Testing and Materials standard specification for Deformed and Plain Carbon Steel. This specification covers deformed and plain carbon steel bars for concrete reinforcement in cut lengths and coils.

ASTM C150-07 is an ASTM standard specification for Portland Cement, specifically Portland Cement Type 1, for use when the special properties specified for any other type are not required, and Portland Cement Type III, for use when high early strength is desired.

National Sanitation Foundation is an independent testing lab/organization in Ann Arbor, Michigan. NSF lists products which meet their criteria for cleanability and sanitation: food contact, splash zone and non-food contact, per Standard 2: Food Equipment and Standard 18: Manual Beverage Dispensers. HOSPITALS NEED TO BE ABLE TO RELY ON PRODUCTS THAT DO MORE THAN JUST CLEAN, BUT ALSO HELP IMPROVE INFECTION PREVENTION BY PROVIDING SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE AND IMPROVED PRODUCTIVITY.

Monash Health, the leading and largest integrated health service facility in Victoria, Australia, was searching for an optimal infection prevention solution that would streamline the steps involved in the cleaning process, decrease health and safety risks and reduce environmental impact. After reviewing third party lab testing and technical specifications, Monash Health chose Rubbermaid Commercial Products’ (RCP) HYGEN Disposable Microfibre System to testwithin the Monash Children’s Hospital Clayton.

Designed for use with or without chemicals, HYGEN Disposable Microfibre is the only line in the healthcare industry proven toremove 99.9 percent of microbes, including C. di�, to help stop the chain of infection; a claim developed through third party testing using water only. Innovative microbe removing technology is complemented with built-in zigzag scrubbersto e�ectively remove dirt without streaking or smearing,eliminating food sources for live pathogens and preventing future growth.

To verify the microbial removal and efficacy claims, Monash Health conducted internal testing to confirm that the product solutions, cleaning process and testing results could be used in a real world environment. During the trial, Monash Health used the HYGEN Disposable Microfibre cloths with only water, no chemicals.

As a result, Monash Health found that the HYGEN Disposable Microfibre System removed all microbes where heavy growthwas still present when compared to using detergent wipes.The facility concluded that the HYGEN system providedsuperior cleaning performance and all product claims were proven accurate. The feedback from users was also considered overwhelmingly positive with sta� noting that their equipment looked visibly cleaner.

Due to the success of the trial, Monash Health implemented the HYGEN Disposable Microfibre System in more than 50 facilities. The product is more e�ective than the facilities’ previous solution, providing optimal infection prevention, superior cleaning performance and improved productivityby reducing the need for two-step chemical cleaning.

Workplace Mopping Ergonomic Assessment at Royal Melbourne HospitalHospital mopping processes underwent rigorous human movement testing to assess and compare the movement risk for employees using different mopping techniques.

What was the methodology used?ViSafe wearable wireless sensors were fitted to the shoulders and lower back of the study participant. These sensors measured the movement and postural risk while performing typical mopping tasks in a hospital room and bathroom using two different mops.

Method One used a Rubbermaid Microfibre Flat Mop

Method Two was a Traditional Wet Mopping technique using a Roller Wringer Bucket and Cotton Blend Mop (other brand)

Sensor readings were compared to video footage for consistency across both cleaning techniques. Each movement was scored against the benchmarks in the Code of Practice for Manual Handling (Safe Work Australia).
