CleanGreenA Step Towards Cleanliness
IntroductionClean Indian Mission (Swachh Bharat Abhiyan) is a national level campaign by the Government of India to clean the infrastructure of the country.
The campaign was described as beyond politics and inspired by patriotism.
Launch of Clean India Mission. This campaign was officially launched on 2 October 2014 at Rajghat, New Delhi, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself wielded broom and cleaned a road.
The campaign is India's biggest ever cleanliness drive and 3 million government employees and schools and colleges students of India participated in this event.
Clean India, Beautiful India This campaign aims to accomplish the vision of 'Clean India' by 2 October 2019, 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and is expected to cost over INR 62000 crore.
Objectives The program includes :-Elimination of open defecation.Conversion of insanitary toilets to pour flush toilets.Eradication of manual scavenging.Municipal Solid Waste Management
Bring about a behavioral change in people.
Generating awareness among citizens.Strengthening of urban local bodies to fulfill these objectives .Creating an enabling environment for private sector participation.
