Greystone Facade Column Capital & Cornice Entry Doors & Transom

A GREYSTONE RESIDENCE building is characterized by its handsome limestone façade frequentlydecorated with classical ornamental stone details. The Greystone Residence located in the Bronzevilleneighborhood was erected in 1903. The restored limestone façade is distinguished with a gently-curvedstructural bay adjacent a portico with a wood bead board ceiling. Fluted columns are finished withCorinthian capitals and egg & dart detailing is revealed in the stone cornice, wood trim and metal doorhardware. The 15-lite exterior double doors with transom lead to an entry vestibule with original mosaicfloor and ceiling beams. Interior 10-lite doors lead to the stair hall connecting upper apartments andowner’s apartment at first floor.C L

T H E L I B R A R Y

A LIBRARY is a designated room set aside for books and reading, a place for solitude and repose. Theroom is essentially a book vault, the primary furniture is a built-in oak bench flanked with floatingshelves. Wood paneling entirely wraps the walls, shelves define horizontal bands and lower woodmolding and upper ornamental wall treatment articulate vertical bands. The ceiling is defined with aninclined mirror inset, reflecting both natural and artificial light, ornamental surface embellishment isdisplayed with paint, fabric and metallic wire mesh applications. The result: an exotic and provocativeinterior exhibiting a dense network of pattern, texture and color.

T H E B A T H

The BATH is comprised of three chambers, evoking the baths of ancient times, providing a sequentialspatial experience for bathing rituals. The room is flooded with soft muted patterns and textures. Amosaic wainscot wraps the lower walls, a wood shelf articulates a finish horizontal band. Upper wallsshimmer with metal aluminum mesh screen and painted metallic background. Wood thresholdsurrounds frame the chambers, rising to form wood paneled slots on the ceiling. Tile walls in the showerchamber create a cocoon effect that wraps the enclosure and bather in a state of calm. Vintage porcelainstyle fixtures occupy the lavatory & water closet chamber and a restored vintage claw foot tub completethe soaking chamber. The result: an unexpected spatial revelation of serene elegance and glamourreflected in a wood encased mirror inset .C L

T H E K I T C H E N

The KITCHEN is designed with respect to the Butler's Pantry of the past. The main wall is a visualbackdrop of rich wood paneling, mirror insets with an intricate basket weave textile appliqué, mosaic tilebacksplash and a restored vintage sink as the focal point. Floating wood shelves are mounted above thecountertop. Wood wainscoting layered with intricate basket weave textile appliqué and ceramic tile basewraps the surrounding lower walls. Upper walls are finished with a matte decorative paint texture andthe ceiling a high gloss paint finish reflecting the light and mirror insets. An exquisitely detailed andthoughtful new kitchen designed with respect for the past.

The PARK MANOR RESIDENCE building is characterized by its handsome distinctive coloredmasonry façade decorated with classical ornamental details. The Park Manor Residence, in the ParkManor neighborhood, was erected in 1904. The face brick façade is distinguished with stone lintels andsills, the front octagonal structural bay is finished with a dentil ornamented cornice. The entryway isdefined by a projected porch with an overhanging metal roof with bead board ceiling and ornamentalwood moldings. The entrance is framed with wood panel insets and a center fluted Corinthian columnsurrounding a lead art glass side-lite, and wood entry door with glass transom above. The entryvestibule beyond reveals an original mosaic floor and paneled doors with transoms trimmed in egg &dart ornamental wood trim.

The LIVING ROOM is defined by several architectural features. The octagonal bay windows extendthe interior with views of the exterior porch and landscape garden beyond. The fireplace with itsoriginal decorative tile hearth and surround reflect the space and light in the decorative mantel mirror.A large wood panel pocket door leads to the Parlor and a small hall leads to a Cloak Alcove with built-in bench and stained art glass window. The vibrant color palette is derived from the fireplacedecorative tiles and stained art glass window. Wood trim is defined with egg & dart ornamentationand hardwood floors extend throughout the space.

The DINING ROOM is the center axis of the apartment. The room is flooded with light from a three-bay window. A direct view of the dining room and beyond is experienced at the entrance. The view isframed at the Cloak Alcove and upon entering the Dining Room, space expands with natural light. Across view through a large wood panel pocket door leads to the Parlor and a small hall leads to kitchen,bath and bedroom beyond. The vibrant color palette continues a collage wall pattern from the LivingRoom and Parlor with alternating accent walls. Wood trim is defined with egg & dart ornamentationand hardwood floors extend throughout the space.

The PARLOR is the hidden secret room of the apartment. The room is concealed behind two largewood panel pocket doors. The Living Room door and Dining Room door open to reveal the Parlor.Light envelops the room from an exterior side-door and transom which open onto the exterior porchextending the interior with garden views beyond. An adjacent window provides additional light.Double wood panel doors conceal an original built-in metal Murphy-bed frame, which folds-out intothe room. The room has the best views of the interior main rooms, while providing a grand privaterefuge. The vibrant color palette continues a collage pattern from the Living Room and Dining Roomwith a cove ceiling detail. Wood trim is defined with egg & dart ornamentation and hardwood floorsextend throughout the space.
