CurriculumVitae(short)ClaudiaPadovaniisAssociateProfessorinPoliticalScienceandInternationalRelationsattheUniversityofPadova (Italy) where she is has been appointed in 2015 Director of the University of Padova’sInterdepartmentalCentreforGenderStudies(CIRSG).AttheUniversityofPadova,sheteachescoursesinInternational Communication and Communication Governance and Transnational Networks (masterprograms), bothwith a gendermainstreaming approach. Padovani is also foundingmember of theNextGeneration Global Studies initiative. Her main areas of interest concern the transformation of politicalprocesses in the global context and their connection to the evolution of communication processes andtechnologies,withaspecialfocusongenderequalityissues,communicationrightsandsocialjustice.In the context of international associations and collaborations, Padovani is amongst the funders of theMappingGlobalMediaPolicydigitalplatform(ancollaborativeprojectoftheInternationalAssociationforMediaandCommunicationResearch,IAMCR);sheco-chairstheWorkingGrouponGlobalMediaPolicyoftheIAMCR,wheresheisalsoanelectedmemberoftheInternationalCouncilandhasbeeninvolvedwiththeIAMCRTaskForceontheUnesco-promotedGlobalAllianceonMediaandGender(GAMAG)since2013.She is anactivemember inanumberof scholarly internationalnetworksworkingonmediapoliciesandcommunication governance, including the the GAMAG Research and Policy Committee, the EuroMediaResearchGroup; and theUNESCOUnitwinUniversityNetworkonGenderMedia and ICTswhich she co-chairs(alsoactingasFocalpointfortheUniversityofPadova).Padovani isalsooneofthethematicexpertsoftheEuropeanCommission inthecontextoftheScientificanalysisandadviseongenderequalityintheEU(SAAGE)project.Padovani recently co-edited Gender Equality and the Media: A Challenge for Europe (with Karen Ross,Routledge2017),athemedissueoftheJournalComPoldevotedto“ThePoliticsofMediaGenderEquality.Lessons learned and struggles for change twenty years after the Beijing Fourth World Conference onWomen” (with Elena Pavan, Il MUlino 2017) and proceedings from an international conference onRethinking the transitionprocess inSyria:Constitution,participationandgenderequality (withFrancescaHelm, Research Publishing 2018). 2012-2013 Study on Area J of the Beijing Platform for Action: Women and the Media inEuropeanUnion (European tender EIGE/2012/OPER/07, allocatedbudget 400.000euros).Aresearchproject,focusedon28Europeancountries,aimedatdevelopingindicators to monitor and evaluate the extent to which gender equality is beingadvanced inmedia industries,with specific emphasis onwomen’s employment indecision-makingpositions (employment), the existenceof gender equality policiesandtheirscope(employmentandproduction),andpoliciesrelatingtogenderandbalanced representation (production and content). Claudia Padovani was seniorresearcher in an international consortium comprising University of Liverpool (UK,LeadMember),theUniversityofPadova(Italy),theUniversityofSzeged(Hungary)and C.A.R.E.S. scrl Osservatorio di PaviaMedia Research (Italy). 2012 CooperationwiththeprojectARegulaçãodosMediaemPortugal:OCasodaERC.Media Regulation in Portugal: The ERC´s Case. The project, conducted incooperationwith the EuroMediaResearchGroup, investigated the state ofmediaand communication regulatory bodies, with a comparative European approach,focusing on their contribution to raise media standards and to the expansion ofpublicandprivatemediasocialresponsibilities.
