WHY DO WE HAVE CLASSIFICATION? Classification of film are in place for the

protection of children and those most vulnerable to make sure that the audience is able to choose the appropriate material.

U CLASSIFICATION Aimed for children under 4. Bad language – extremely mild. Sex – Kissing, cuddling and sexual

references are allowed but not any sexual images or innuendos.

Violence – Mild and comic with the reassurance that no one was hurt. No use of weapons.

Drug use – No illegal drug or emphasis on drug taking. Brief references.

PG CLASSIFICATION Any child would be able to watch a PG film

providing that their parents thinks it is suitable. It should not upset children over 8 but still could

contain upsetting content. Bad Language – Mild, infrequent and not in an

aggressive manner. Sex – References can be made but only through

comedy or in a way a child probably will not understand.

Violence – Can be used but the action most not be focused on or glamourized.

Drug Use- Anti-drug references with little focus if otherwise. Should not be glamourized but condoned.

12A AND 12 12 A is used for cinema classification whilst 12 is

used for DVD classification. 12A states that no child under 12 must see the film

without an adult. Bad Language – Strong language can be used as

long as it infrequent and used within context. Sex – Comedic references and situations are allowed

however crude with a strong focus is not. Nudity can be shown but only briefly.

Violence – Violence is allowed but briefly and without focus on injuries or weapons expect without strong context. Sexual violence is also only permitted briefly within context.

Drug use – Drug use can be shown briefly and should not be glamourized.

15 CLASSIFICATION Bad language – Strong language can be

used but very strong language must not be used in frequent of aggressive manner.

Sex – Sexual activity is allowed. Crude references however are not allowed unless in context.

Violence – Strong violence is allowed but not sadistic.

Drug use – Allowed as long as it is not promoted or an easily accessible drug.

18 CLASSIFICATION No children should be able to see these

films. Themes are not restricted unless they

are illegal or harmful. Bad language – Any language is

acceptable. Sex – All sexual images and references

can be used as long as it not physically recreated by the actors.

Violence – All violence is accepted. Drug use – All accepted but not

glamourized.

“IN MY EYES”Taking all of this into consideration, we feel that our film is a PG. There is no violence, strong language, drug use or sexual reference, but Doug’s distressed nature might be distressing for small children as they might not understand the reason why.
