CHART• Is such a representation intended primarily for
navigation. It generally shows the depths of water, aids to navigation, dangers and the outline of adjacent land and such features that are useful to the navigator.

Small Scale Charts = Small DetailsLarge Area Shown

• are small scale charts used for deep sea navigation while proceeding on a long voyage.

SAILING CHART
GENERAL CHARTS• These charts are intended use in coastwise
navigation outside of outlying reefs and shoals when the vessel is generally within the sight of land or aids to navigation and his course can be directed by plotting.
• Scale Range1 : 150,000 to 1 : 600,000
GENERAL CHART
COASTAL CHARTS• These are large-scale charts used in navigating
in close proximity to the coast. Many details of the coast are depicted such as nature of the coastline, position and characteristics of lights, radio telegraph stations, towers, beacon and other floating aids to navigation are also depicted.
• Scale Range 1 : 50,000 to 1 : 150,000

HARBOR CHARTS OR PLAN CHARTS
• are intended for navigation and anchorage in harbors and small waterways.
• Scale Range1 : 50,000 to larger scale
