The Healthy Living service is the most utilized service NRC offers to program partners. To participate in the Healthy Living service you need to conduct classes, have people coming to appointments, or do home visits. If you do any of the three things you can receive items to use as incentives to get positive participation in your program. A good example is to get diapers from NRC to use as an incentive to get people to attend parenting classes. Working together to get people to
participate in positive activities is our goal!
Healthy Living Classes must have an educational component that focuses on self-improvement and need to be offered on a reoccurring basis. NRC hopes the incentives we provide will increase and maintain attendance at your classes. If you do home visits we are hopeful the incentives we provide to share with your clients will help to make the visits easier. If you have clients coming to appointments we provide items you can use as incentives to help ensure those clients show up.
Classes Appointments Home Visits
Every year NRC provides needed school supplies to reservation schools. This year, we received 70 requests for school supplies from schools in our service area. NRC
was able to provide supplies to over 17,000 students for their first day of school. The school supplies were split into four separate categories that include: preschool to kindergarten, elementary, middle, and high schools. The items that were sent out
included some of the following items:
NRC provides backpacks for each new school that submits a request for school supplies. Backpacks are intended for students in preschool through middle school. Schools that received backpacks during the
last school session will not receive them this year, but will get them the next school year. This method allows us to provide backpacks to as many students as possible. In order to receive school supplies you must be
a school on a reservation and submit your request by May 15th.

professionally effective in order to improve
their services and results
The 2012 NRC Training Services will start the new year with a double training session on Friday, January 13, 2012 in Rapid City from 9:30AM to 3:30PM. Please save this date on your calendars. This full day of training will include two ½ day sessions entitled:
“Communication is the Key” –This session will address ways of developing stronger communication skills in the workplace includ-ing listening and how to respond rather than react to situations; reading body language; intercultural communication and appropri-ate language in the workplace.
“Let’s Play Ball!” – this training will focus on team building in the workplace, creating “synergy” with staff; and developing skills in motivating staff and volunteers. The training location for this day will be announced later, but as always, the day will include a free luncheon, healthy snacks, a gift bag and a certificate of training. Please check out the NRC Program Partner Online Resource Library and Networking Website for further information on upcoming training dates and other events at www.nrcprogrampartnertraining.org or contact Mark Ford at [email protected]
Residential Service

NRC provides products to residential facilities for use in the care and maintenance of the facility and for use by the residents. The facilities that NRC wants to assist are those that serve people in a residential setting. Most of these target facilities operate on tight budgets and cannot provide all of the items needed for the people who come to
their facility. NRC hopes that the products that NRC sends to the facility will help the facility save money that can then be used to purchase other items needed for the residents.
When NRC delivers the supplies, the residents and staff of the facility are asked to help unload the supplies from the truck. All of the facilities that participate in this service are encouraged to have the residents perform duties to help keep
the facility operating. These duties can include: cooking, cleaning, and working on the grounds area. However, NRC does not require that the residents volunteer in order to earn the products. In order to receive these supplies we ask
only that the partner fills out the one page request/report form monthly.
