Coming Soon - NEW! Ableton LIVE courses & Certified Training Sound Gallery Music Courses Yr 2013-2014 Course delivery Sound Gallery courses are run in the Exeter Phoenix Media centre and are taught on iMac computers. Certain course content is taught in the Sound Gallery recording studio. Sessions are delivered in small flexible groups allowing more individual interaction between participants and tutors. If there are further areas outside the course content you would like to explore do not hesitate to contact us as courses can be tailored to more individual needs. Membership Scheme An annual membership fee of £75 allows access to the Sound Gallery computers in the Media centre on Mondays and Fridays. This membership provides an opportunity for participants to spend time working on their skills and techniques they have learnt from the courses. Participants who have enrolled on one of our courses are entitled to FREE membership (Term time only, 2 hours per week, Mondays or Fridays).

Recording Studio Experience Dates arranged as required. Option 1 day (8 hrs): £260 for 1-1 sessions. Option 2: £150 per person for groups of 2-5 participants. Sound Gallery also offer 1-1 tuition that can be arranged as required. £30-£35 per hour, all courses take place at Sound Gallery Studios or Exeter Phoenix Media Centre Explore all aspects of recording and mixing in a professional recording studio and learn about mic placement and multi-tracking using Logic and Pro Tools, utilising high-end outboard and software plug-ins with the help of an experienced sound engineer.

SiMPTI: Standards in Music Production Technology and Industry Work-based training programme for 14-18 year olds Weeks: Autumn 2013, June, July 2014, 11am-4pm, £125 per week per participant A programme of training, learning and working experiences designed to provide access to a commercial recording studio and the tools used in the music creation, production and recording This programme is suitable for GCSE, A-Level and BTech students who wish to undertake their work experience in a recording studio. Access to SiMPTI (Supported by the Exeter Board Community Grants and Daisi) Dates arranged as required. £35 per hr. This programme is designed to provide music-making activities for young people aged 16-25 who are considered to be 'at risk of social exclusion' in the form of regular master classes, workshops and recording studio experiences under the guidance of professionals in a safe working environment.

MUSIC COURSES & WORKSHOPS AT SOUND GALLERY STUDIOS All participants use their own workstation, allowing them to complete hands on exercises, practice what they are learning and receive personalized attention for their questions and concerns. DOUBLE ELEPHANT PRINT WORKSHOP Working  from  our  Exeter  city  centre  base,  across  Devon  and  beyond,  Double  Elephant  Print  Workshop  offers  courses,  resources  and  support  to  professional  printmakers,  artists  and  beginners  alike.  

We  are  passionate  about  printmaking  and  its  possibilities.  We  aim  to  encourage  creativity  and  artistic  development  through  a  friendly  and  supportive  approach.    

DOUBLEELEPHANT.ORG.UK Courses Brush  up  your  skills  or  try  something  new.  Please  call  for  a  chat  if  you’d  like  help  to  find  a  course  which  suits  you.  Teaching  is  in  small  groups  of  6-­‐8  people,    and  can  be  tailored  to  individual  needs  and  interests.  All  courses  are  suitable  for  beginners  through  to  experienced  printmakers.  

Basic  materials  on  all  courses  are  included,  there  will  be  a  small  extra  charge  for  any  specialist  materials  used,  payable  on  the  day.    

An Introduction to Printmaking A fantastic introduction to a range of printmaking techniques: ideal to kick-start a new interest or revisit rusty skills. Find out more about the flexibility of printmaking through monoprint, collagraphs, drypoint and relief print methods, then you could choose to take your new skills further with our Improvers Course.

Short Courses Experimental Printmaking Weekend 7 & 8 September, 10am -4 pm, £110 Let your imagination run wild and combine a variety of innovative processes and unusual materials to create your own large print over two days with the support of two printmaker tutors. NB. Formerly known as Extreme Printmaking. Introduction to Screenprinting Sat 28 September, 10am - 4pm, £57 A useful introduction to screenprint using simple cut paper stencils and translucent colours. Photo stencils also available. Water based inks are quick drying and a pleasure to use. Collagraph Weekend 12 & 13 October, 10am - 4pm, £88 An accessible and versatile print process using collaged textures with a variety of textures, paints and carborundum available. The scope for colour experimentation is endless – including the exciting viscosity printing. Introduction to Wood Engraving Sat 26 October, 10am - 4pm, £57 An introduction to the fine graphic skills traditionally associated with book illustration. Learn how to adapt your designs for wood engraving. Suited to those who enjoy detail and controlled cutting. Make your own Christmas Cards 9 & 10 November, 10am - 4pm, £88 Give this year’s Christmas cards that personal touch by spending a festive weekend making your own on this special linocutting course. Plenty of examples will be on show to aid your designs! Drypoint Day Sat 23 November, 10am - 4pm, £57 A direct way of working on metal or Perspex plate; the process lends itself to lively, expressive mark making using needles, roulettes, sandpapers and power tools. Acrylic-Resist Etching Weekend 7 & 8 December, 10am - 4pm, £93 All the expressive mark-making, typical of traditional etching, without the use of harmful organic solvents; hard ground, soft ground, aquatint, wash and semi-permeable grounds on offer. Plus an introduction to different ways of applying colour. Screenprint Weekend 11 & 12 January, 10am – 4pm, £93 Techniques on offer range from simple cut paper stencils, to highly versatile and surprisingly easy photo stencils. Printmakers’ Coffee Time Join us for a coffee and a group chat about your printmaking thoughts, interests and challenges. This is a very hands-on session. We'll explore roller prints, stamps, monoprinting and simple collagraph, and printing onto fabric as well as paper. This is suitable for teachers of any age. Intermediates:

People will benefit from a small group of 10 members to improve their grammar skills together with the fluency of their conversation. A grammar book with exercises together with a French verb book will be required. To be discussed on the first day of the term.

Gain confidence with games and group interaction in a relaxed atmosphere. There is no exam therefore no pressure but the momentum of learning the program will be met.
