NB March date to be set by group Cost $275 (includes assessment) This 6 session course is designed to further your knowledge of surface stitchery. It provides a foundation for further intermediate courses. Zippered Bag Code MM1 Marilyn Marshall Wednesdays: February 5 and March 10 Cost $50 Inspired by the Sew Together Bag this nifty little bag with three zippered pockets, and other handy ways to store your current project, is a challenge for those who have made bags before. There will be homework between classes. Old Doors and Openings Code DR1 Dale Rollerson Saturday and Sunday February 15 & 16 Cost $150 Old doors hold secrets – you always wonder what they hold: historical secrets, old markings, peeling paint and exotic patterns, often hidden away. And, of course, openings. Paint your own fabric swatches, create papers, melt fabric, use found objects, free motion embroidery, hand stitch with hand dyed threads, use hand dyed felt, machine stitch on paper and fabric, work with paints, inks and crayons and other wonderful ingredients. Then cut and link lots of different elements to create a small series of doors which could be framed or hung. If you have pictures of old doors which you like, bring them for inspiration or simply be led by your imagination. Branching Out Code AC1 Alison Cole Cost $90 plus Kit $110 Wednesday and Thursday March 11 & 12 Branching Out features a branch of a Canadian Maple being visited by a Canadian Question Mark Butterfly. Worked in both Stumpwork and Goldwork embroidery techniques. Features English gilt, copper and coloured threads and Colourstreams sadi thread, Au Ver a Soie silks and Gumnuts silks. 20cm x 23cm approx. Tudor Coloured Silkwork Caps and Coifs CB20-G Chris Berry Fri and Sat March 13 & 14 $88 (plus Kit$45 to tutor) Must book through EGV Melbourne Full payment on booking A notebook course with samples starting with a talk about C16th and C17th men’s caps and women’s coifs worked in coloured silkwork. Coloured silkwork stitches are based on detached buttonhole stitch and students will sample all these stitches. The metal thread stitches will also be worked as samples. Students may then work motifs based on Tudor designs. Level – beginner (with some stitchery experience) to intermediate
