SCHEDULING

• Presently/Block Schedule

• 5 classes per semester

• 4 classes consisting of 80 minutes

• 1 skinny block class consisting of 45 minutes

• This results in a total of 9 credits per school year

Students must earn 6 out 9 credits to be

promoted.

REPEATING CREDITS

•Students will only be able to repeat a

credit if they fail a course.

•However, both the F and another

grade appear on transcript.

•A credit cannot be repeated to

improve the grade.

TYPICAL FRESHMAN SCHEDULE

Most freshmen take these classes:

• English I

• Algebra A / B or Algebra I Honors

• Physical Science

• Wellness

• World History and Geography

• Fine Art (Visual Art, Theater, Music, Band, etc)

• 1 to 2 Elective Classes

WHAT IS AN ELECTIVE??

Any class that your student takes that is

NOT already chosen for them as a state

or county requirement.

It can be something your student likes,

but may be something that they receive

because we could not meet their

requests due to various reasons.

WHAT IS AN ELECTIVE FOCUS?

Three credits in a single subject area:

(must be beyond minimum requirements if there are

requirements in that subject)

• Humanities (Foreign Lang, Social Studies, English)

• Math/Science

• Advanced Placement

• Fine Arts

HIGH SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT

Dress Code

• No extreme hair styles, hair color, body

piercings or jewelry that distracts or interferes with

learning

• No sagging or saggy pants. Pants must be

worn at the waist

• No holes in clothing above the top of the knees

• Skirt length must not be higher than the tip of the

fingers with hands at the side

DRESS CODE

• Leggings are allowed, but only under standard

length dresses, skirts, or shirts.

• No clothing made of sheer or fishnet material

• No pajamas (top or bottoms) or house shoes

• No suggestive slogans, vulgar captions, pictures of

advertisements for tobacco, alcohol, drugs, or sex

• No hats or shorts unless pre-approved by

the principal

• Any other attire that may distract or interfere with

the learning environment or operation of school

CELL PHONE POLICY

It is our intention to protect learning time

and minimize distractions in class.

Therefore:

• Phones and other recording devices are

not permitted to be used, or to be out in

classrooms unless specific permission is

given by the teacher.

• No taking pictures or videoing during

school hours will be allowed.
