Biography / Memorable Life Experiences: Norman Arnoff is a trial and appellate lawyer, who served in the SEC, Department of Justice, and as Professional Liability Counsel for the FDIC in the N.E. He argued the first FRCP Rule 11 case before the Supreme Court of the United States, first Monday in October 1989, on the issue of law firm responsibility for frivolous litigation that led to the FRCP making law firms responsible and subject to sanction. He has authored over 175 articles on securities , lawyers and accountants professional liability and ethics subjects. His children are grown and he resides with his wife, Joyce , in NYC

We have enjoyed playing competition and social golf together. also having our 24' Mako and trailering it all over Michigan fishing on the Great Lakes as well as 0ur local lake St Clair The past 35 years I have become absorbed in showing my dogs in competition obedience. Biography / Memorable Life Experiences: Lived extensively in Mexico and Costa Rica in the 60's. From the 70's forward have lived and worked in Phoenix, Arizona.I am fluent in Spanish. Recieved my nursing degree in Arizona and worked in NICU , community health, school nursing and pediatric clinics. Married to Tom Danielsen Phd. Biology in 1987. He taught Biology at a local community college. We were married for 29 years. We did professional landscape photography for various publications and calendars of western landscapes,cultural sites and national parks for over 30 years.

Biography / Memorable Life Experiences: I continue to teach and to write, with a recent book, *One Toss of the Dice: The Incredible Story of How a Poem Made us Modern* (W. W. Norton, 2017). Currently filming a MOOC and writing a book on gothic cathedrals, have taught a course on the topic in Paris the past eight summers. As Napoleon's mother said, upon hearing he had been crowned Emperor, "May it last."

(b) I do not feel much older now than when I graduated SHS. (c) Since leaving SHS, I have been very fortunate to be paid to do research, learn, teach, and travel.

Biography / Memorable Life Experiences: Came to NYC from college to live and work in East Harlem and had four mind-expanding years working with H-S dropouts. On from there to various street theater groups with which I lived and performed. Then "dropping back in" to business school, leading to 12 years in insurance industry, most working for a property/casualty insurance broker. In 1995, decided to become a translator and am still doing that work now, but now part-time. NYC forever, a great place for seniors.

Biography / Memorable Life Experiences: Great husband 36 years; healthy 96 year old mother in NYC; our son Jacob married last year and is a second year resident at Mass General; next year he will be a fellow in ID at MGH; his wife Amy Li is working on her PhD. When we are in Boston we always see Aileen Kates, my bff. Our daughter Jen lives in Inwood with two dogs and works at City College. Bob and I both still work (he as ED of Design and Construction at CUNY and I as President of the Lincoln Square BID celebrating 20 years!) In addition to trips to Berlin & Paris, we spend time in upstate NY whenever we can.

Biography / Memorable Life Experiences: In 2013 Jay & I retired and moved to Lincoln City, Oregon. Our home overlooks a beautiful lake and we’re 5 minutes from the ocean. Twenty years ago our older son moved to Salem, OR and in Sept. our younger son moved with his family from Colorado to Eugene. So now we’re all in the same state! I direct a handbell choir at our church, work with LWV and spend time gardening. Life is good, and Oregon is the greatest place to live!

Biography / Memorable Life Experiences: I had a very fulfilling career as a school librarian with 27 years at Eaglebrook School in Deerfield MA and then finishing my career in Wilmington NC at Cape Fear Academy. Our two children, daughter in VT and son in DC are keeping us happy as we watch their two; each growing into their own person. We love living in Wilmington and the warmer climate even make it through hurricane season. We still own a cabin on a lake in Maine and go up each summer. I guess our lives are my memorable experience... Volunteering at church, environmental groups and AAUW keep me busy now that I am retired.

Biography / Memorable Life Experiences: After a career teaching languages (I speak 6) & working in education , I founded Myths and Mountains, an award winning adventure travel company specializing in Asia, South America & Southeast Asia. To give back to the people in Myths Countries, we created READ Global, a non-profit building library community centers & seeding business to fully sustain & support the centers in Nepal, Bhutan & India. READ has been funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. My career has taken me from Everest Base Camp to the Atacama Desert. I have 2 children & 7 grandchildren.

Biography / Memorable Life Experiences: I've been working w/the Music and Memory Program, for people diagnosed w/ moderate to severe Dementia, based on the work of the Psychiatrist/Neurologist, Oliver Sachs. Biography / Memorable Life Experiences: I’ve had an exciting life in the arts, designing plays for San Francisco area theaters & founding the Pickle Family Circus where I served as ExDir and designer for 19 years, running the company, performing my juggling act and raising my kids. When they left to join Cirque du Soleil, I left to work on films and TV shows in the Bay Area. Since then, I have retired from the union, remarried and moved to Santa Cruz where I have my own ceramics and painting studio and a large garden to play in. The work I am proudest of is my kids.

Pamela (Pam) Edwards AllaraClass of '61

Interests: writing about South African contemporary art

Biography / Memorable Life Experiences: I'm so fortunate to have both of my adult children nearby so that I can help out with 'grandma duty.' Grandmas are increasingly important these days due to lack of affordable child care. Life remains busy and fun, as I continue to write and curate, as well as volunteer at schools and organizations bringing art to underserved children. I believe that art can transform lives, as I have seen it happen both in South Africa and in Boston! Hurray for being active in our 70s! I'll become a slug in my 80s

Interests: I do lots of web design &custom programming apps. Just thinking re retirement.

Biography / Memorable Life Experiences: I went to Temple University marjoring in English and also attended the PA Academy of Fine Arts (1st art school in US) and studied painting. I taught school for some years and painted with success. When the first computers appeared i was hooked. I went back to University of Pennsylvania and got an MSEE in Computer Science and led programming teams designing systems for Fortune 500 Companies for some years. In 1993 i got married and moved to California and opened my own company doing similar things. I love my work. I live on 6 acres with my wonderful husband in the Sierra Foothills.

Interests: Recently completed a new play.

Biography / Memorable Life Experiences: Since our last reunion: my mother died at 103 years at 47 Penn Blvd. I had made her a promise that she would die at her home of more than 60 years, and she did. My children are making their way in the world: Noah, 28, a musician; Zach, 25, works for Hyatt; Hannah 22, just graduated from U of Michigan and is heading to Peking University for an MA. They are adored. I still run and play golf and continue with both my jobs: theatre teaching at Cornell and emergency medicine. Essentially, I'm in denial, and haven't figured out how to know when to retire. I look forward to seeing old friends.

Philip (Phil) Ensley Class of '61

Interests: Blues music, RV camping, captive and performing elephant welfare advocacy work

Biography / Memorable Life Experiences: Colorado great place to retire, 11 years now! At the gym 5 nights a week. Heidi helps out at the local community garden and farmer's market. Wrote an essay for the book, Giant Hearts (Rupa Publishers) on elephant welfare work. Just penned a chapter for a book on a jailing for civil rights work in Mississippi in 1962. Proudest moment this year was attending the dedication of an athletic facility with an indoor football field at Syracuse University named after the major donor, kid brother Cliff (SHS '65), Syracuse's athlete of the year in the footsteps of Jim Brown, Ernie Davis & Floyd Little.

Dean of Faculty (97-03) & provost (03-09), College of William and Mary. Retired 2007, moved to CO. President, Geological Society of America Foundation, Boulder, 2010-2014.All 4 children (3 daughters, 1 son) married and living on east coast -- Brunswick, ME; Baltimore, MD; Raleigh, NC; and Decatur, GA. Biography / Memorable Life Experiences: retired in the Texas Hill Country, and active in the arts community for the last 20 years there; more recently involved with animal rescues and shelters as well; celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary

Jonathan (Jon) Hahn Class of '61

Occupation: Orthopedic surgeon

Family: Married 43 years to a wonderful wife, Carol. ER physician son with twin boys.

Interests: Travel, sports, woodworking, reading, and babysitting grandkids often.

Biography / Memorable Life Experiences: During medical school I met my future wife (five year whirlwind courtship). We had two sons, the oldest died in an automobile accident. I joined with another orthopedic surgeon in central Pennsylvania to build a nine man orthopedic practice. We spend about six months a year in central PA and divide the rest of our time either traveling with friends or in Florida and Cancun in the winter and Cape Cod in the summer. My wife and I are both instrument rated pilots and fly a Cirrus aircraft all over the USA. While we are still able, we enjoy skiing, tennis, windsurfing, biking, and hiking.

Family: My Constant Companion Mary Foran and I have been together since 1991.

Interests: Letterpress printing, collecting Victorian advertising, genealogy (for others)

Biography / Memorable Life Experiences: B.A., Brandeis University, 1965. Ph.D. in Organizational Psychology, University of California, Berkeley, 1972. A "temporary" post-doc job with a local Health Department turned into a lifetime connection. I still work there half time, developing medical facilities for a primarily low-income population. I try to apply to the healthcare environment the principles of humanistic design that I learned at Brandeis from Abraham Maslow. I have lived in Berkeley since 1965, with the exception of 2 years when my house, along with many others, burned in the 1991 Oakland fire.

Biography / Memorable Life Experiences: With many happy memories from our 50th, am sorry to miss this 55th. Two grandsons graduating from College and their father turning fifty this past year puts life in perspective. Laura lives nearby so we see a lot of our 4+year old grandson, Tommy. In fact I accompanied them to her 10th reunion at Notre Dame (MBA), my 51st, and had a great time. Judy and I have enjoyed traveling to Alaska, Las Vegas, Hawaii, Sedona, and the Shenandoah Valley the last few years. Fortunately, she enjoys looking at rocks. Still leading SilverSneakers fitness classes (4/wk this quarter). Enjoy fb posts from all.

John Hershey Class of '61

Occupation: Inventor

Family: My wife, Anna, a physicist and later Master Gardener, and I have three children and are looking forward to our 48th anniversary.

Interests: Reading. "There is no history, only biography."

Biography / Memorable Life Experiences: I was 15 years in service with the CIA, NSA, and DOC and worked on such things as Pres. Carter’s PD-24 and project Azorian after which I aided the founding and growing of a govt services office in Boulder Colorado. Following the company’s sale I then worked at GE’s R&D Center in upstate NY and was a named inventor on over 200 patents. I taught at universities as an adjunct faculty member and served as a program evaluator for accreditation. I authored/coauthored 9 books and was elected a Fellow of my professional society. SHS provided a great start.

Biography / Memorable Life Experiences: survived 6 moves, 3 schools, U. of Colo. , Texas, cancer, 5 years studying Tai Kwan Do, still trying to grow up. Our sons and daughter-in-law are wonderful and our granddaughter is the best ! Butch and I love our 'retired' life on Marco Island, playing tennis and traveling.

Biography / Memorable Life Experiences: One of my most memorable life experiences, besides my marriage to Wendy in 1986, was going to Ukraine and adopting our daughter Hannah in 2004. She was almost 9 years old and couldn't speak a word of English. She is now in The University Of Hartford

Family: Ginny and I are ensconced in our beautiful one-story house for the duration.

Interests: Politics, warm winter places, folk music and sports.

Biography / Memorable Life Experiences: I just finished annotating 35 years of my work on no-fault compensation systems that will be housed at the U. of VA Law Library. After 4 years organizing a legal and political fight against DOJ and VA, we moved my son Jason into a group home for people with profound ID. We are working now to ensure he continues to receive high quality care. I have also done a lot of writing on retirement, laced with humor to help the medicine go down. Ginny and I have the age-appropriate aches, pains and artificial parts but continue to travel and visit children and 5 grandkids.

Biography / Memorable Life Experiences: Karen and I have lived in Chappaqua for many years. I am retired from being the Director of The Sleep Disorders Center at Columbia University Medical Center. I continue to teach and do research. Karen is a human rights advocate and author. Kristina, married to Joseph Di Carlo, is a mother and pediatric occupational therapist. Michael, married to Joseph Loy, is an attorney teaching law at NYU. My children live in the area so we are able to see them often. We all enjoy going to Vermont regularly. My fly fishing takes me to places out west I never would have seen otherwise.

Biography / Memorable Life Experiences: recently (2014) published my second book, JOHN CAGE WAS, consisting of my photographs of the composer plus extremely brief (100 words max) contributions from 60 people the world over on Cage's influence on their lives. Also in 2014 (a good year) got to play the role that had eluded me till then: Captain Hook/Mr. Darling in Peter Pan. What a joy.

Biography / Memorable Life Experiences: My life is and has been good since last we gathered! My grandchildren are still very much my "joys"! (Benjamin-7 and Harper-5 on Halloween) and so lucky that they live 10 min. away! My guys, Tyler and Matthew(wife-Jaime) live in LV too. Ha...yes, it seems to take longer to do the same things but can do them!! If possible, friends have become more treasured than ever-am sure the awareness of our mortality plays into that!

Retired in 2008 and have volunteered as a co-teacher in grandkids' classrooms while supervising student teachers for Seattle Pacific University. Moving to Seattle in 2003 was life-enhancing in all aspects imaginable. We've taken small boat cruises twice in the Mediterranean and in Alaska, and take lengthy visits with Sharon in Tucson and on to Hawaii every winter.

The only common thing has been, since I became a Christian in 2008, trying to use whatever is before me to bring glory to God and help others. Now to do the things I love during this next phase of my life: traveling - walking 100 miles of the Camino in Spain in Sept., exploring Acadia in Oct. and the Amazon in March - and spending more time with my family and friends. After a few months of retirement, I found an opportunity to create a mentoring program in my local schools. After 4 years of running the program, it has quadrupled in size and now serves grades 3-9. I recently retired as Condo HOA President after 6 years. Most of the time it was fun and very rewarding, but a few grumpy old men ruined the experience. We celebrated Elise's receipt of a Ph.D. from Northwestern in June 2010, just five days before my mother's death and a week before my retirement from the Ridgewood Public Schools and from a fulfilling, forty-four year career in public education. Biography / Memorable Life Experiences: Moving to CA 3 years ago from Westchester in order to be nearer to our children and grandchildren has allowed Janis and I to be a continuing part of their life rather than just occasional visitors. Of course the weather is great allowing me to bike all year long on smooth roads with bike lanes, but it has also allowed us to put a new spark in our lives meeting new people and going to new places. It has not always been easy leaving old friends and relations, but the positive side has been exciting and challenging.

Biography / Memorable Life Experiences: My third career as a realtor is winding down, having been preceded by First career as a professor of English Lit. and second career as sales manager of a large paper corporation. Now I spend more and more time painting landscapes and portraits and studying at Silvermine School of Art. I have been in several exhibits, won awards, and had a one man show of 53 paintings last November at The Bendheim Gallery in Greenwich. Biography / Memorable Life Experiences: I hadn't seen my yearbook picture in many a long decade. My, my. My phone (here in Brazil) doesn't fit in the format provided but, should anyone happen this way, it's 22 2623-1571. There are a good many of you I think of from time to time and a few of you I think of oftener-- and, yes, with that bittersweet ruefulness that bespeaks a sense that we may, even now, have unfinished business with each other. I think I didn't express myself very well back then. I've perhaps gotten better. Unhappily for me, several classmates I'd like to be in touch with don't even appear in the distribution list.

Interests: weaving, painting, travel, learning

Biography / Memorable Life Experiences: I'm in a wonderful relationship with my life partner Ceil for 27 years. She and I have traveled abroad and in the US. I retired in 2006 after 35 years as an art educator and due to health issues Ceil retired in 2013. I continued to pursue my 2nd career as an energy healer in an effort to build a bridge between the medical profession and energy healers. My website Zehnergy.com explains more about my skills.
